Dr. Anita Hightower must choose her new assignment.
Spock and his wife Lauren are fugitives from the law. He is still not pleased with the situation, and by now she's had about enough of his attitude. With Starfleet on their trail and his medication running out, they continue searching for the one person who might clear Spock of the original charge against him. And in the process they encounter an interesting character from the past...

Lauren Fielding encounters Sybok when he takes over the Enterprise. It seems that Spock has not told her everything about the renegade Vulcan. Sybok is fascinated with his brother's woman, and Spock's loyalties are even more deeply torn.

This story is the first of my series, Star Trek: Beyond. "A Taking of Leave" and several of the stories that follow were first printed in a 1980's fanzine and have since been heavily rewritten. In this story Spock takes leave from the Enterprise to participate in research on a colony planet. While there he encounters a mysterious halfling who tests his Vulcan discipline and changes his life.

Premiering April 15th, 2013, in weekly free write #90, the prompt here was “Paint a Scene”. So, I went and painted this. The story introduced a new member of the Harrison clan (whom I just adored writing in his very first appearance), here's Hank and Bethany at a familiar place for them, but feeling very unfamiliar feelings.
Premiering on May 6th, 2013, in weekly free write #92, the prompt was “Smackdown”. I took this opportunity to showcase Hank and Bethany in a light we don’t see often, one where they aren’t exactly getting along.
Premiering on June 12th, 2012, in weekly free write #73, the prompt was “Obstacles”. This one pretty much screamed Sarah Harrison, as she’s a child who definitely can be an obstacle at times.
