Summary:

Okay. I've tried a million times to come up with a simple (or even a not so simple) way to explain this storyline and I've failed every time. I guess because there's just no way to stick it in any particular genre, or sum it up in any simple terms.

So, this time I'll just go with stating the facts: The Arc of the Wolf is a series of stories, some short, some much longer, some not even written yet, some half-written and sitting on my hard drive, some even contributed by other authors, that spans well over a century in the lifetime of Montgomery Scott. Long before TOS, and long after it.

I can guarantee that 1.) Nothing in it contradicts canon; in fact, part of the reason I've even written it is because I wanted to explain a whole lot of things I saw in canon that didn't make sense without further context. 2.) It's a pretty family friendly series -- some occasional cussing, more than you'd see on TV, but nothing gratuitous. The highest rated story is PG-13. 3.) It's written all out of order, and there are still a number of stories missing out of it, but the earlier pieces are pretty cohesive.

Not much more to be said about it, really. It takes a very close-to-the-ground, human-eye view of things. It's got a bit of everything; from joy to tragedy, from deep and intense to total comedy. All of it, though, is character driven. (And yes, it even has some art to go with it; ask if you're curious enough.)

Feedback is adored, but not required -- I'll be happy if you read it and it makes you think.

Summary:

Following Distant Horizons, On the Nature of Wind is a full-length novel that dives into what Scotty did while in Engineering School. Though it isn't the first story chronologically in the Arc of the Wolf, it was the first one to be written. It also introduces an OC who practically has his own fanclub. This novel can be read alone without reading the rest of the Arc of the Wolf, though, like most things, it's best in context. There are also other stories that go with it and will be included in this series.

This story covers a lot of ground. It has humor, drama, friendship, high seas piracy -- no, I'm not kidding -- and plenty of action. There's a little something for everyone.

But at its heart, it's about the questions we ask the universe, even when the universe never answers us, and how we have to often seek those answers ourselves.

Even if it means we only find that we're little more than courage, struggling for oxygen.

Summary: This section picks up one year after On the Nature of Wind. In order to really understand this, you should have probably read that. Especially since the first story spoils the ending of that tale.

It's also the last 'complete' part of the broad story arc that I have done so far. I may or may not post the rest.

True Bearings is probably one of my favorite parts, if only because it was written rather easily. It's still close to the ground, and most of it is strongly character-based. It has some really light, warm parts in it; likewise, it does have its occasional gritty moments. Mostly, it's about the process of discovering what it's like to be a part of a family.

Summary:

Dana ("Mack") MacKenzie lost almost 2 decades of her life to false imprisonment in Canamar. BarnstormingFramed for smuggling the drug Etrotherium, life passed her by as she lost her shortstop's job with the Titan Bluebirds. And she never got almost 20 years' worth of letters from her second cousin, Martin Madden.

rn

Now she's got a chance. She's got a new Gorn ship, shaped like a cylinder, that's she's dubbed the Cookie. Her new engineer, Wesley Crusher, is back from time with the mysterious Traveler. Her communications officer is a third caste Daranaean artist named Crita. And her pilot is an Orion-Betazoid hybrid, Daniya.

rn

She's hiring team members. They're going to barnstorm the galaxy, even though Mac is now fifty and not what she once was. But there's a bit of barely legal technology on the Cookie, and someone wants it – someone who's going to get on her team, by any means necessary. And there are others who want it, too, and are willing to kill for it.

rn

And what of Marty Madden? He's been supervising a project where he and Geordi LaForge have been detecting odd energy readings, something about a hydrogen line that doesn't match the one in our universe. Someone's knocking from another universe. Someone who maybe they shouldn't let in.

rn

Mack and Marty hold a legacy in their genes, as do only a few other people. The descendants of Douglas Jay Hayes Beckett are going to have their hands full soon.

Star Trek: Between the Stars is a fan fiction universe set mainly in the post-Dominion War period. The Federation and their allies - as well as their enemies - are still picking up the pieces in the aftermath of one of the most devastating periods of conflict they have ever known. Formerly known as the Tales of the 11th Fleet (TOT11F or Eleventh Fleet, alternately) shared universe project, the stories in the BtS universe are mainly written by myself, and features stories written by or with former TOT11F members Brydon Sinclair, Kahless of Vulcan, and Jack Elmlinger. Other writers who participated in the TOT11F universe include Jerriecan and popular Ad Astra writers Sam Redfeather, Miranda Fave, and The Lone Redshirt - and some of their characters may make future appearances in BtS stories.

And on those borders different enemies lurk, Romulans and Klingons wait in the wings and plan their schemes to undermine and destroy the Federation.
