Someone was going around in time, putting things right that once went wrong.
And while it seemed like it could be a good idea, it wasn’t.
For every time one thing was changed, a thousand others were. And inevitably, things were worse than before. And the do-gooder’s definition of right and wrong wasn’t the best of standards. 
This kind of meddling threatened space and time, yet the meddlers – who thought these were good deeds – weren’t stopping.
It was up to Rick to put back the original history, whatever it was.
What if the Organians hadn’t decided to intervene, halting the Klingon/Federation war before it even started? Here’s an AU look at how things might have played out. This is another dark, grim tale on my part (maybe I need to get a nice, warm kitten for my Muse to cuddle with, or a soft, furry Tribble to pet). Warning: Graphic descriptions of torture, both physical and emotional, and character death. Written for the ‘Decisions, Decisions’ challenge.

Gibraltar is pulled from her duties in occupied Cardassian territory to escort a diplomatic mission to the Gamma Quadrant. When tragedy strikes, Captain Sandhurst finds he and his crew isolated on the far side of the galaxy and faced with the very real possibility of re-igniting hostilities with the Dominion.
However, unknown to Gibraltar, the starship Intrepid is also currently assigned to the Gamma Quadrant on a secretive mission of the utmost delicacy. Captain Aubrey and his crew must endeavor to discover the true nature of the threat that faces both ships, as well as avert a tragedy that could result in the deaths of billions.
This story is a crossover with Galen4's Star Trek: Intrepid.

And for the people you’ve promised yourself to, forever, what does that really mean? Do you ignore the truth, or do you listen to all of it, even the ugliest parts?
I now consider this an aborted attempt to tell a story set during the Dominion War. I prefer thinking of it as an excercise, and some scenes from this story will turn up in a more complete work.

While Captain Limis Vircona embarks on a daring rescue of Doctor Aurellan Markalis, she remembers how she had to overcome her hatred of Cardassians to avert a major catastrophe.
Their lives seemed perfect – or, at least, close enough. They were happy, and together.
And then they were forced to do things that they didn’t want to do – and then discovered that they did want to do them.
