This is my first Fan Fic project, and it's a pretty massive one, so I hope you'll indulge me, and I hope you enjoy!
As a bit of entertainment for myself, I have previously made a project out of adapting all the existing DS9 relaunch novels into screenplays, as if they were seasons 8 and 9 of the show. 26 episodes from Avatar to Unity (season 8), and 24 episodes from Unjoined to The Soul Key (season 9).
Now that the DS9-R seems to have fizzled out and people are wanting to know what happened between The Soul Key and Rough Beasts of Empire, I decided to come up with my own stories to fill the gap. Another whole 22 episodes, hence "season 10."
The stories are written in screenplay form, as if they really were TV show scripts, each episode approx 60 pages. So it's a big investment, both by me as a writer and by you as a reader. As well as posting the original text onto the board, I've formatted each episode as a PDF to download and store if you want.
During these 22 episodes, I plan on answering many of the questions TrekLit readers in general, and DS9-R readers in particular, have had ever since The Soul Key. Answers to what happened with the Dominion, the Ascendants, Dax's transfer, and lots more. Timeline-wise, episode one picks up right after the last page of The Soul Key, and by season end, we will be up to the beginning of TNG's A Time to... series.

To explain, this is not the stage play as written by Andrew J Robinson. I've never read that or seen it. But I decided to use the title because my episode does incorporate what I assume must have happened in that story, along with a few other bits and pieces from here and there. In some cases I specifically referenced other works to craft my story; in others I actually came up with the idea independently but then discovered after the fact that someone else had already done a similar idea. This carries on directly from the end of ep 13, although I wouldn't call them a two-parter necessarily. It also incorporates a scene from the DS9-R novel Rising Son by SD Perry, something I found necessary to do because it was a scene I'd cut out of my much abbreviated adaptation of Rising Son for my own season 8 screenplays, but which turned out to be necessary for the story of this ep. If that makes any sense.

While Grand Nagus Rom visits DS9, Gaila and Brunt make plans together.
As you may know, this is in fact an already officially published story, written by professional author David A MacIntee. I chose to include it in my season because it fits perfectly timeline-wise (the text explicitly states it takes place over the year following KRAD's Satisfaction Is Not Guaranteed, which I adapted as episodes 11 and 12 of season 9), and because it provides me with another at least semi-comedic story in what is really a pretty heavy set of episodes.
The story as adapted is almost identical to David's original, albeit definitely abridged. I lay no claim to the original storyline, dialogue or scene descriptions, which come almost entirely from David's story and are his intellectual property. I have, however added my own subplots to further my own arcs for the season. All the station-bound parts of this episode are my own work, except for the very last scene which is also from David's original and inspired that station-bound subplot.
As to the legality of uploading another person's story to the boards for free perusal, I asked for and received David's explicit permission to do so, provided that he have last say over the content, which is his right. It was extremely generous of him to do so, and I am very grateful. I have enjoyed all of David's work that I have read, and definitely recommend that anyone who enjoys this go and buy one of his books. A dangerously depressed Garak goes to desperate measures to find help.
Similar to the previous episode, this is of course also an already officially published story, Andrew J Robinson's direct sequel to the rightly lauded A Stitch in Time (which I had previously adapted as part of season 8). Again, I chose to adapt an existing story because it fit my plans for the season perfectly. In fact, much of the Cardassian storyline over the entire season has been written with the knowledge that I was coming to this point.
When this story was first released, I think it confused some readers. I have tweaked a few small aspects, hopefully made some things clearer. I also dug in and found the way in which this story slots seamlessly in with the larger developing arc of the season, as you'll see in the final act.
Unlike with "Reservoir Ferengi," I do not have official permission to upload this story, mostly because I do not have the ability to ask for that permission. The same caveat applies: I lay no claim to the original storyline, dialogue or scene descriptions, which come almost entirely from Andrew's story and are his intellectual property. If anyone objects to my uploading this, please tell me and I will happily remove it with apologies. No offence is intended.
