It's the Federation all-star team in action. And boy oh boy are they planning Big Picture here, or what? In fact the entire Starfleet agenda and mission plan seems to be hushed out in this meeting for generations to come.

No doubt the Borg are a serious enough threat to justify this and in some ways it isn't difficult to imagine that a threat to one's very existence would not only call for such drastic actions but in a way even set the philosophy of an entire people. After all its quite possible that the Federation's push for exploration and expansion is not just driven by mere curiosity. It may very well be due to its own survival. In a way this isn't so much reshaping the future as perhaps just altering the underlying motivation for a (excuse the pun) trek to the stars.

I'm sure all this will still have a significant effect on what we have come to know and love about the Trek universe. Really curious what this new future will look like.

I share Z's and Lily's initial frustration. After everything they've been through trying to convince Solkar and what have they achieved. All they can hope for now is that he will be true to his word and ensure that actions will be taken to prepare for the Borg.

Of course we already know that he has set such plans in motion, plans which will take generations to unfold but which will nonetheless have a significant impact on future events.

It's interesting to note though that Solkar, for all his alleged logic, never considered to leave the future to unfold as it has and not to get involved in attempting to alter it. Flawed logic or inspired foresight? Only time will tell.

An intense experience for both Solkar and Lily right here. Mind melds are nothing to joke about and clearly Solkar has become desperate for answers to even consider such a seemingly drastic option.

Well, answers he now has. Questions is, what's next?

It's difficult to warm to arrogant Vulcans, especially the pre-TOS kind. Surnak is an excellent example of the stubborn type, unwilling to believe anything that doesn't support his view of the universe. It's confirmation bias in action.

Then again, perhaps it would have been better for everyone involved if Solkar didn't believe either. Time will tell.

A good ol' drunk Zefram Cochrane, the great hope of humanity in his element once again. I can totally see him and Lily talk to the Vulcans about the Borg and the Enterprise, in fact it is almost surprising that it appears they didn't mention it in the prime timeline. The only reason I can think of that he didn't is that he got so wasted, he actually wasn't able to tell reality and booze-infused hallucinations apart.

Of to a fascinating start here, as the Vulcan would say.
