Sleeping with the boss? Not quite how most people imagine that going.

Curious how this death will impact the epic goings-on of this story moving forward.

Author's Response:

A vulcan custom - whenever possible to not allow a friend to die alone.  So there is a new Vulcan Premiere - and he's from Rome.

I'm glad you're continuing to follow this strange, meandering tale.

Thanks!! rbs

Well, this makes me hopeful that perhaps a new chapter between the Federation and Romulans might be dawning. I'll hold off on popping the champagne, but they're certainly on the right path.

Author's Response:

With both romulan governments (the Senate and the Empire) getting warm and fuzzy with the Federation on joint environmental rescue projects... There has to be a fly in the ointment...

Thanks!! rbs

I admit, after all the esoteric hijinks as of late, I'm enjoying a little break of good old fashioned detective fiction. Well, maybe not entirely old-fashioned on the account of the telepathy and the skin that looks like crawling worms.

Nicely done.

Author's Response:

Use of telepathy during interrogation is one of thoes due-process errors that would make Dolphin blow his stack...

Glad you enjoyed this - this is the main storyline for thie Episode. If I were to tell more Hunter stories, it would be more detective/courtroom drama. That was my intent before the looming environmental disaster kidnapped the story.

Thanks for the kind words! rbs

These dreams really are more light nightmares, aren't they?

The battle was intense and besides inducing some more highly disturbing imagery, it packed a healthy dose of Harry Potter-like magic action.

Great, vivid imagery, for certain.

Author's Response:

Never thought of it that way before, but Shiva, Remma, Johnny and Julian are kind of a witchy priestly caste.

Glad you're grooving on the disturbing imagry - the fun part of writing dreamscapes.

Thanks!! rbs

Well, talk about a cold (and wet) open. Not entirely sure what's going on here, but still one hell of a chase. I have a soft spot for those. Especially through a city, in the rain.

Great action and I liked those transporter pins. Nasty but effective.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the kind words!  Yeah - those pins are fun - always fun to invent new Trek tech.

Thanks!! rbs

Interesting timing for a family reunion, he's picked there.

I wonder what this could mean ...

Author's Response:

Family and reconciliation among estranged people is a big theme for STH.

The payoff for this scene happens in a later scene with Will Riker...

Nice description of Minerva. We've come across sentient space-dwelling organisms before, but you've really brought this one to life. Particularly interesting detail about the way she generates gravity and travels.

Boarding her through her mouth was slightly more perturbing.

Author's Response:

Beats coming in the other way...

Glad you enjoyed this new Minerva - Thanks for the kind words!! rbs

In a small way, the massive Ark, and her mission to bring an entire ocean to Vulcan made me think of, the planet stealing vacuum ship in Spaceballs. Maybe not quite the right analogy.

Looks as if Ivanovic is still a populist at heart. Too much of that can be dangerous. Hopefully he knows how to strike the right balance.

Author's Response:

I had forgotten all about the planet stealer! Space Balls hangs over space operas the way that Monty Python's Holy Grail cast its shadow over Lord of the Rings...

Only egomaniacs and martyrs go in for being president. Ivonovic is no martyr... It's amazing that any of them ever gets anything accomplished (not counting self aggrandizement and self destruction.)

Thanks!! rbs

Oh good, for a moment I was worried this was going to get confusing, with another Minerva and now a Jet Traxx, who isn't Jet Traxx. I guess you make up for this by bringing back some of the familiar faces. It's almost like a mini reunion.

Author's Response:

Since Dr. Carrera is a time traveler, he creates mind-bending paradoxes whenever he shows up. This time, the joke's on him...

The avatar was lodged with Mistress Penelope when it met him for the first time. Now he's meeting the avatar for the first time.

Sela and Ivonovic have quite a bit in common, don't they? Not sure yet if that scary or reassuring. His advice on how to handle this new religion is fairly decent. Curious to see if she will heed it.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you made it to this scene.. I really wanted to show both characters growing.

Ivonovic railed against giving the Reomulns these planets and now he's the only one who could make it happen. As Ushi Irons said to Ivonovic in a much earlier chapter: "Only Nixon could go to China..."

Transplanting an entire planet is one hell of a massive undertaking, no doubt fraught with many complications. And quite possibly unprecedented, at least as far as the Federation and the major Alpha and Beta quadrant powers are concerned.

But if successful, I could see how this could usher in a new era of peace between the Federation and the Romulans. Something that was difficult to imagine after the fall of Vulcan.

Author's Response:

Bizarrely, the romulan population on Vulcan creates a bridge between the two powers. So oddly, The Section 31 plot to hand Vulcan over to the Romulan Senate made a broader reconciliation possible in addition to bringing in massive romulan resources to save Vulcan's dying biosphere.

Of course, no good deed goes unpunished... no matter how nefarious.

Thanks!! rbs

A nice litlle light-hearted interlude to all the drama unfolding in this continuingly epic tale. My favorite bit by far is Dolphin making fun of the whole time travel aspect and the twisted language that comes with it and which Carerra is so fond of.

Author's Response:

Glad you're enjoying the twisted time travel grammar - by far the best reason to write stories that involve time travel.

Thanks!! rbs
