This story is a complete nightmare for any Wesley Crusher hater. Thankfully, I was never one of those. Maybe because I was too young to realize that he could be quite annoying at times.

Not so much annoying here but instead really quite peculiar.

Author's Response:

Wesley suffered from great acting and horrible writing.

I figured he would go a little bonkers wandering through spacetime trying to gain control over his abilities.

Thanks!! rbs

Three Wesleys?!?

Really need to start expecting the unexpected here.

Crusherman is hillarious. I've been thinking about a way to make a superhero work in Trek. This is certainly one way to do it ...

Author's Response:

Mad scientists are the arch-villains in the comics and the superheroes in Trek. Wesley makes for a great superhero, but I have another more powerful and obvious superhero who will put in a first appearance in Ep. 19...

Thanks again for the kind words and glad you're enjoying! rbs

This story is getting tripper with each chapter. Now we've got the tale of two Wesleys.

Some great imagination at work here.

Author's Response:

Glad you're enjoying the Wesleys!

I wanted to tip my hat to all those zany episodes that every Trek series managed to deliver.

Thanks!! rbs

I never considered the comedic side of a time loop but you certainly make it work. And I'm not just talking about the funky attire people are sporting here as if it were dress-up day.

Now the question is, what the blazes is going on and who does our evil Vulcan fit into all this?

Author's Response:

Douglas Adams wrote that the greatest victim of time travel is verb tense and that time travelers had to invent several new verb tenses to handle things like something they did in the past, but they haven't gone back and done it yet... But the future perfect tense was done away with because it turns out the future isn't.

Ah, a time loop ala "Cause and Effect" is the answer to the trivia questions posed in the last installment. I should have known, since I'm using a similar device in QD. Although perhaps not quite to the same hilarious effect.

The second part here is more serious and perfectly showcases why the majority of people encountering temporal paradoxes get monster headaches. It's already starting for me.

What an appropriate read for Halloween!

Author's Response:

Glad you're enjoying it! My favorite line in all of ST was in DS9 when Miles O'Brien and Miles O'Brien say, in unison, "I hate temporal mechanics..."

It's not often that I reread a paragraph but I probably read the last one trice.

Great job how sudden and almost casually you drop this in at the end of a chapter. A real showstopper.

I'm assuming it's another vision of sorts but with this story you never quite can tell.

Author's Response:

Glad I could pitch you another curve ball this far into STH. When you asked who would be left standing, I was tempted to cackle and say "I'm going to kill all of them..."

Thanks!! rbs

People suffering from vision they believe to be real is very on brand for Trek and here and it previous chapters they feel really quite authentic, although I have little doubt they're all malicious.

The comment about Bolians being immune felt like a ruse straight away considering what had happend not so long ago.

Author's Response:

Yeah - Napoleon wasn't fooling anyone but himself. Even the holograms weren't buying that one...

I felt after all the gut wrenchy stuff at Cun Ling the crew needed some spooky Trekky hijjinks. Episodes 13, 14 and 15 were concieved as a suite.

Thanks!! rbs

Scumuk is back and in force. Popping back up after everyone had thought he had been dealt with like any good horror movie monster.

The analogy feels apt since this guy is no joke, he's practically single-handedly tearing Hunter's crew apart. Difficult to think of a more powerful or frightening villain.

Author's Response:

Vulcans seem to make the scariest bad guys. They seem so sweet and logical... until they turn on you...

Thanks again for the reviews! rbs

No doubt about, it's the night of the living dead. Whoever is behind this, I guess they're no longer just targeting vulnerable Trills.

The Hunter really needs to stay clear of telepaths for a while. They're clearly nothing but trouble.

Author's Response:

Assuming it's not actually ghosts.. Not giving away the reveal..

Happy Halloween!

Thanks!! rbs

You gots to feel bad for those unjoined Trill the way they're being used. Although it seems they are not the only ones affected. Not sure if there's going to beans one left to try and stop this attack soon.

Author's Response:

Once again, you are not wrong...

Tour guide comment: the end of Episode 14 is the exact mid-point of the series.

Pandemonium has ensued on the Hunter. Telepathic attacks are just nasty.

I don't remember if Dolphin has taken some tactical command classes in the past but the dude clearly knows what he's doing with only very little to go by.

Author's Response:

Dolphin doesn't have the polish of a Star Fleet Academy graduate. But he's doing okay for a "gentleman officer" with a degree and 6 months Officer Candidate School.

Thanks!! rbs

A lot of things to unpack here. For the sake of time I'm going to skip right to the end. WTF?!

I was already somewhat surprised by Irons bunking up with a crewmember but what are the odds he has a telepathic episode just when they're together?

Something very bad is happening here.

Author's Response:

You are not wrong... And yes, all is not well with Irons...

Thanks!! rbs

"Everybody got that?" Uh ... no, can you run this by me one more time, please?

The new pilot clearly knows her stuff, but, since I am not a pilot, I have to admit most of this went a little over my head. Kudos for the very technical descriptions though.

My favorite part of this: Bird Sounds.

“Quack, Cackle, Caw.”

Author's Response:

Glad you got a kick out of Dolphin's attack form names. Of course the Quack Attack is being banked for later use, but I also wanted to show Dolphin training his team - something the varoius Star Trek series didn't show much of.

Thanks!! rbs

Very procedural chapter here, from the way the bodies are handed over to the very scientific autopsy report.

Loved the threat of the 150k soldiers showing up on your door step. Didn't turn out to be so much a threat as a fact. I wonder if the Andorian Emperor always takes a full army with him wherever he travels. That sounds like a nightmare to coordinate.

Author's Response:

Glad you enjoyed Sin's little Machiavellian stunt. He's building his mystique so that he won't have to travel with an army. Word gets around - when Sin IV requests, he's politely explaining how things are going to be... Iron fist in the velvet glove.

Thanks!! rbs

Okay I was right about two of the three. Got the Vulcan wrong and didn't expect the Prez.

I don't remember if I read it, joked about it or just thought of it, but I'm not surprised Minerva is on first name basis with the leader of the Federation.

Looks like Andoria is going to continue to play a big role here. Curious to see where this goes.

Author's Response:

Emperor Sin IV is just too fun a character to leave on the sidelines. He has lots of nefarious things to do...

And Minerva is the most popular girl at the dance - in no small part because her son is the big cheese on the Federation Council.

In a much later chapter I provide some of Mary's backstory - a lawyer from a small town in Mexico.

Thanks!! rbs

I have an inkling as to who that Andorian may be. And the Vulcan and one of the humans

It looks like people need to start taking it easy on Irons. After all, she ain't exactly a spring chicken no more.

Author's Response:

The ongoing deterioration of Minerva Irons is one of the major story arcs.

Glad it's keeping you intrigued - Thanks!! rbs
