Very poignant...especially now, with Leonard Nimoy himself passing. My cat, very elderly, is doing exactly what Mosha did...decorating the end of the sofa so I can empathise quite easily here.
Author's Response:
Thank-you. I also have lost beloved cats. Mosha had minor roles in other stories from my Star Trek: Beyond series. She had a special affinity for Spock.

Nice. Love the reference to TAS "Yesteryear". And I can't wait for the next story in this series. ..............................I'm waiting...... LOL
Author's Response:
Thanks! So glad you like it. Do you mean that you've read all of the Star Trek: Beyond series? That's a LOT of reading. Currently I'm working on the next story, "Testament". It's very large, so I'm going to chop it into smallish chapters and put them up as I go. It should appear very soon.

Nice touch. Spock was always denying that he was affected by small furry animals that purred - cats, or tribbles, or whatever.
The kicker for me though was I once had a calico cat named Koshka - the Russian word for cat.
Author's Response:
Thanks! Yes, for someone who purports to be so honest, Spock certainly does a lot of covering up. In my series, his eldest daughter T'Beth once said, "His whole life is a lie". Sad, but there is truth in it.
I had my own little Mosha--the sweetest little thing that died one breezy morning when she chased leaves under the back wheel of my car. (Shades of I-Chaya.) Since then, I've never let myself love a pet so deeply.

Aww...I-Chaya...
Wow, a very touching story. And definitely a wiser Spock, who knows to hold his tongue on certain things. And how very human for him to realize he did have his own attachment to the cat. In all a tender look at Spock.
Author's Response:
Thanks so much! Yes, in my series Spock has learned a thing or two over the years about handling his children, but there remain many lessons ahead.

ah, very nice little story indeed. Spock could've replied in such a Vulcan way but didn't. Good work.
Author's Response:
Thanks so much! In my series Spock has learned the hard way--and continues to learn--about handling the heart of an emotionally wounded child. He is definitely doing better than before.

The loss of a pet is hard, and for Spock trying to apply some logic to it. Overall I enjoyed this. Well done.
Author's Response:
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it. As you say, Spock will always try to approach situations logicallly.

Ohhhh. The loss of a cat is so sad. Glad to see it affects Spock, too, in his Vulcan way.
Author's Response:
Thanks! Mosha interacts with Spock in other stories from my series. The particular dream to which I refer is found in "In The Interest Of Peace". In another, he is seen absently holding the cat and stroking her while he ponders a family problem. I always knew that, deep down, he loved Mosha.

Like, Good point of view of Spock attempting to use logic to explain a Cat's love. nice to see reference to Spock childhood pet. Well done.
Author's Response:
Thanks for the read! Yes, no matter how comfortable Spock becomes with his human half, he will always view life through the lens of logic.

Sweet story. Spock never did like to admit that he actually liked cats, did he? One thing I like about these stories is how he can interact with his very human family, and still read as decidedly Vulcan, even if it is a Vulcan who is more comfortable with his human side than he has been before, perhaps.
Author's Response:
Thanks for the comments! Sounds like you've been reading other stories in my series? Yes, at this point in his life Spock has grown more comfortable with his human side, although he will always be the conflicted halfling that we love.

Aw sweet. And honestly, it is the way the emotional resonance creeps up on Spock that makes it so effective and how he tried to protest the affection for or of a cat in his own logical way that makes it even more endearing. Sweet. Really well done.
Author's Response:
Thanks! That's what I try for. It's so nice to get feedback!

Ah, a good tie back to canon, very lovely family scene.
Author's Response:
Thanks so much! Teresa has a special relationship with Spock that shows in the fact that she calls him "Daddy" instead of "Father" like her older siblings.

Wonderful father/daughter moment you conveyed here between Spock and his daughter Teresa.
Thanks for sharing.
Author's Response:
Thanks for reading my story and taking time to comment. The full family dynamics would be best understood by reading the Star Trek: Beyond series, but I did hope to capture that particular moment, which is actually still off a bit in the series' future. Mosha the cat had been featured here and there in various stories, and I had always sort of wondered what became of her. Then this morning I suddenly knew.

The loss of a beloved family pet. We've all been there, even Spock. Well done capturing the emotional outburst and outpour of emotions from Teresa and Spock's mind turning the cogs, trying to justify his feelings logically.
Author's Response:
Thanks for the read and kind comments. Mosha appears now and then in my series, and in this one I've brought her life to an end. Sad memories for me, too, because I had a real life Mosha (named after this very cat) who died young and quite tragically.
