All right, my suspicion is that either this isn't the Borg, but something or someone trying to frame the Borg, or it is the Borg and something bigger and scarier stopped them. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Very neat mystery you have going here. Quite the creepy picture with the assimilated cradle and all. I'm not sure what would be more disturbing, waking up assimilated or only half-way finished...

Author's Response: Actually the half-assimilated idea came from a creepy nightmare I had the other night. Got to stop eating chocolate and watching Star Trek First Contact before I go to sleep at night. Everything will all come together nicely when I'm finished. Already got Day 6 done and will post it when I get home from work tonight.

What could stop the Borg?  You left it on a cliffhanger, good job.  I really like how this is playing out.

Author's Response: You will get some of the answers you seek for Day 6's entry. Will have the next part posted when I get home from work tonight.

More concerned not at the Borg but Borg doing half a job. One doesn't simply assimiliate Will Riker.

Well, were it not enough for Beverly to get her oar in, Riker pays the price.

Now that was a twist on what I was expecting, nicely told and the cliff-hanger invites speculations, looking forward to tomorrow episode.

"Die you mechanical beast". Love it! I can't imagine what stopped the Borgs from fully assimilating Riker and his family. You have me hooked.

Hmm.  I know one person who can kill Borg this way.

Riker's anger is pretty clear here, and feels true.  I could see him being trigger happy in this situation.  Here's hoping they can un-assimilate everyone without too much damage ... and that whatever killed the fully assimilated drones won't kill them, too.

Oooh, what a great unexpected twist! The Borg are dying and failing to assimilate them? You managed to write some really twisted, scary stuff here, especially with the half assimilated baby! Can't wait to see what happens next

So it's a failed assimilation. Kind of a good news, bad news situation. They're not Borg, okay. But they're also not quite themselves. And Riker is smart to wonder what could have caused this.

Not expected. Not expected at all. Something very awry here with the assimilation process. Thankfully. But oh my goodness to the thought of the baby being partially assimilated. That's horrid. Another instalment leaving us wanting more.

Well, you know how to keep the cliffhangers coming.  O.O

Author's Response: Cliffhangers are my best friend writing wise. I think I've only grown in my writing since I started writing Trek fanfiction in 2000. My stuff isn't so Mary-Suish anymore.

Nnnnooooo!  I can't wait to see where you take this.

Author's Response: Thanks Mick. I'm trying to keep everything consistent. It's not easy. I'm not quite sure if I've opened up a can of worms or not yet... :S

The Borg get Riker, O no, why do i feel that his love will still overcome the collective.
Good little ficlet, well done.

Author's Response: Thanks FB. Wait till you see what I have in store for Day's 5 and 6.

Interesting scene. I've always been frightened by the Borg. I hate that they are after Riker and his family. Hard to watch him fight an enemy he might not be able to beat. Looking forward to reading the rest.

Author's Response: The Borg frighten me too. I love writing drama/angst/fluff. I blame it on watching too many Mexican soap opera's. No worries I have something in store for Day's 5 and 6.

Oh hell no!!!! If Riker gets Borged... :) Great job here of ratcheting up the tension levels to 1000. Riker's reactions were totally honest and realistic, really heartbreaking to watch him fight for his family against a foe that he may not be able to beat. Really looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Author's Response: I've got something in store for parts 5 and 6. You won't believe who's behind all this. ;)

I'm really hoping this is a dream sequence because I just can't abide by the idea that Will Riker is going to be a Borg Drone. Not. Riker. You got that sense of panic down here. Crusher was surprisingly very BA in this moment.

Author's Response: Not a dream sequence I assure you. I have another ace up my sleeve. I'm not done yet. Besides, I wouldn't subject Riker to that. I've got something else in store for part's 5 and 6.

Oh my gosh, are the Borg taking the whole family? And what about Doctor Crusher? I see a whole new series coming: Borg Trek!!

Author's Response: I've got another ace up my sleeve. You might be surprised where I got with this.

Author's Response: I've got another ace up my sleeve. Part 5 will explain some things a little better.

O.O

I was going to say, "wow, this was awesome, I can completely remember what this was like (both times!). Wife eating ice. Wife pissed off at me (she almost bit me with the second one! BIT. ME.). The screaming baby already incredulous at the world. The beautiful little baby. The Borg drones..."

"Wait...Borg Drones?"

Dude, that was just messed up. lol

Seems you are continuing in the TNG fashion of giving the best cliffhangers to Riker involving the Borg. That's another heck of an ending! Very well played. Tomorrow's ficlet can't come soon enough.

There are days, and there are days and it looks like it's that way for Riker.  Way to end on a cliffhanger.  Looking forward to your next installment.
