Hex!!!!  Yay!

This was just terrific.  Sass and brains, indeed.  And she will someday have QUITE an introduction.  Just loved this bit all the way around.

Author's Response:

Thankies. Yes, in the end she'll have quite a grand introduction a far cry from this meek little introduction. ANd yes, of course, Hex. Have to gives the fans what they want.

Sass and brains and smarts, too. Love the intro to young Tabatha Katherine (even John Colt would not dare call her 'Tabby Kat'). Great read with an economy of words - well done!

Author's Response:

Colt would know better than to call her THAT. LOL. Thank you TLR. And we may see an appearance from Colt at a juncture down the line.

That's Tabby - a lot of spunk, full of, um, that is, an endless variety of words. You have to admire her courage in such a hopeless situation. As to her holding the Kessel Run record, well . . . ;-)

Author's Response:

Ha! So very, very true. As for the record, you'll have to prize it out of her death grip hands. Or as she'd say, "You'll have to chase me Colt but I doubt you'd keep up."

Well, that didn't go so well. If Meora hadn't been there, Tabatha wouldn't have been kept on for too long.

Author's Response:

Possibly not, which is why she owes a lot to Hex.

Well that was a surprising Chapter two and yet the ten year old Tabatha reactions felt right. Well done.

Author's Response:

Thank you FB. More surprises to come.

Loved it! Nice to see how she reacted even as a little girl to being called a Tabby Cat. Also great job with the Tellarite captain. The dialogue was top notch. Can't wait for more, so may have to go and read some of the longer stories you have on the board. Top notch stuff!

Author's Response:

Love me some dialogue. And yes, you'll have to go and read some of the longer stories I have on the board young Luke Skywalker :jedi hand wave:

Thanks loads for reading.

AHHH! More Tabatha. I love how she sticks to her guns, and the back and forth dialogue here, and pretty much everything about it.

Author's Response:

Thank you. Yeah, she's meek and scared here but she's got her spitball energy and crackle. And learns quickly to use her talents to her advantage - and to stick to her guns.

HEX! Oh, beautiful stuff here. This is how these two meet and how Hex is later on makes this oh so bittersweet. Tabatha's known Hex for a long time. Well done, well done.

Author's Response:

Yup, a long time. And yeah, it makes it all the more heartbreaking where Hex ends up. Thank you for the shout. I'm glad someone with knowledge on the guys got so 'excited' about their first meeting. Thanks millions. That reaction put a big smile on my face.

Aw, Tabatha was taken in by Meora Hex. I really like Tabatha. I cannot wait to see where you take us on Day 3.

Thanks for sharing.

Author's Response:

Aww, thankyou zeusfluff. Hopefully Day 3 will bring us to interesting places.

Ah, so this Tab lives up to expectation and gloriously so. 499 MF, talk about skin of the teeth :)

Author's Response:

What!? I had a whole word to play with. Damn! But by the skin of the teeth seems very fitting when it comes to Tabatha. And gloriously so indeed. Ha. Love it. Thanks for reading Mac.

I love her spirit. She has an energy that's flat out contagious when reading her. This is a great entry, forgive me because I'm not familiar with everyone's story histories yet, but is there a specific set of stories I can read to experience more of her?

Author's Response:

She's got plenty of spirit, that's for sure. That's a pretty good (and fairly flattering) summation of Chase. There is a set of building stories about Tabatha as well as her featuring in the Round Robin last year. She's found in the stories of the Rhapsody Rabbit Gavilán.

I've just recently been introduced to Tabaitha from one of your other stories, but thoroughly enjoy reading her. Her larger than life personality and her ability to fly by the seat of her pants always make her a fun read for me. I hope she escapes, I want to read more of her escapades.

Author's Response:

Larger than life? Check.

Flying by the seat of the pants? Check.

Fun read? Check.

Awesome review? Check.

Thank you Gatekeeper.

I also love the born to run, born to fly lines.  I've never read any RRG stories before either, but I will now.

Author's Response:

Do! Do read them. Shameless plug over. And you'll see that Tabatha certainly ends up running and flying by the seat of her pants more often than not.

Aw thanks TS. We can hope so. We had better so actually. Thank you for reading. More fun and games ahead (hopefully)

That woman sure knows how to make an entrance, doesn't she? Her speech is delightful towards the end, and of course, she is going to make some kind of equally epic escape. Great start, Kev!

Author's Response:

She does. Escape? Should do. Epic? Would there be any other way in Tabatha's book?

Man oh, you brought your A-game for this one, as did Tabatha.  Great look into her humble, rough-around-the-edges beginnings, which go a long way to explaining the woman she became.  Can't wait for more.

Author's Response:

Glad you liked Cuppy. Yup less than stellar beginnings but certainly stellar endings - well the ending may not end up being so stellar for her. We will have to see. Thanks for reading and such nice things.

Now this is interesting. I find Tabatha fascinating. The way she faces certain death, and not without a fight makes a strong character.

How did she get away? One of her trick's I suppose.

Thanks for sharing this. I enjoyed it.

Author's Response:

She has many many tricks for sure. If she can talk her way out of trouble she will. Otherwise her philosophy is as you'll see, 'Gun it or run it'. But I like that and agree. The fact she doesn't automatically seek out a fight and faces the situation speaks of her own particular brand of strength. As to how she gets/got away, that hasn't been addressed. Here's hoping she does. Thank you for reading and for saying Tabatha's fascinating. I think so too. ;)

Oh, Tabatha! I know you'll work yourself out of this pickle, but it does seem dire here. Got to love the audacity of her, not going meekly into the night, but rather defiantly. Bravo. I wonder exactly what she was escaping of, but her story reminds me a lot of Tasha Yar's. As nice and great the universe is in the Federation's view, there are still lots of dark/nasty places like Tabatha's planet.

Only ten when she fled to the stars. I look forward to seeing who gave her the ride out of there and where she learned some of her tricks.

Author's Response:

Chin up. Toss the hair. Put on the best and most garish lippy. No, Tabatha is never ever going to go quietly. As to the how of getting out of the pickle ... well we'll have to wait and see. And yes, canon supports the fact that not everything is rosy and sometimes those that bash TNG or TOS forget that they held up the utopian vision as a vision and an ideal but not necessarily as a given. As for what's next, who she meets and what tricks she learns, we may not have the word count for that. But we'll see what inspiration brings tomorrow. That's certainly one of the directions I was figuring on.

Oh man that monologue is so bad ass! I love it. Chase by name and chase by nature. Just from this we know we're in for a wild ride as Tabatha tells us where she comes from. I can't wait. This is my first encounter with "Don't-Call-Me-Tabby" and so far I love it. Great job, great voice and a great ficlet!

Author's Response:

WHAT!? This is your first encounter with Tabatha. Shame on you. Shame. But I'm glad that introductions made you're liking it thus far. And she definitely has a voice and her own brand of bad ass. Thanks for checking it out.

Don't you frelling kill her!  Don't you dare!  (I mean, this is Tabatha and I have a feeling she'll find a way out but DON'T YOU FRELLING KILL HER I MEAN IT KEV.)

As always, she's full of pride to the end.  I do sometimes wonder if it will be her undoing and there's something very sad about that.  But she's also wary and savvy and doesn't let herself get complacent.  Like I said in another review, soft on the outside, tough on the inside.

And she is definitely no "mere" freighter captain.

Love it.

Author's Response:

Now, now, is this based on last year's ficlet?! LOL! I could hardly repeat the same trick twice now could I? Hmmm, don't answer that one. Pride being her undoing? Oh I dare say so. Pride before a fall so she's dues a heck of a fall. That said, maybe given where she's come from, Tabatha has cause to be a little proud of herself. Savvy she is. (Mostly) No mere freighter captain? I agree with you, definitely not. Thank you for reading. (No promises)

It sums her up in a lot of ways so yes quite fitting for our gal. Thank you for reading jes.
