You just killed me. That's me dead. What a reveal of everything I learned last year that made me flail. I love it, I love it, I love it. And I absolutely adore you wrote the RR-verse, too.
Author's Response:
Oh I couldn't do Tabatha's story without a reference to McGregor after all. So, the RR-verse had to get its mention as it's the vehicle that propelled the possibility of it all coming onscreen. Glad you liked. It's a reveal long in the pipeline and wasn't how or when I'd ever get to play it out. The ficlet allowed me the chance to play with the idea. We'll have to see how it plays out in the actual RR. Sorry to have killed you. But hey, I hope at least it was with a smile on your face. Death by flail was it? Again, chuffed at your reaction and wasn't honestly waiting to see what your reaction was going to be. Thanks again.

Oh, God. Every single time. Every single time you manage to stick the ending. This one made me laugh out loud. And the dialogue section there in the middle was sheer brilliance, too.
Author's Response:
Thank you Steff. When it comes to dialogue, the gal seems to write herself. And matching her against Colt only but helped. Hey, endings are but hooks. Leave the audience with a smile or/and wanting more. Thank you so much for the kind words.

And thus, we find out how she got her difficultly named ship. I seriously adore all of these. I mean, I can never quite get enough of your writing, because you're just that damned good, but I love these little looks into Tabatha. She's a brilliant character, like pretty much all of your characters are.
Author's Response:
Awww, thank you Steff. Love those words. Framing them. And yes, a drunken night later and she's got the name for her ship.
Date: 24 May 2014 11:36 Title: Flying too Close to the Sun
HA! I love that ending. I love Tabatha. I love the fact she has the nerve to fly into a sun, and that she has the skills to get back out. But the ending definitely takes the cake.
Author's Response:
She's got the nerve for sure. And most definitely the skill. Please, don't spill any cake crumbs. Thanks Steff for reading. Glad you enjoyed this one.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! He's her dad?! Poor Tabatha, having to watch her dad sacrifice himself like that, but what a way to go out. This is some amazing stuff.
Author's Response:
Thank you. McGregor likes to be as bombastic as his daughter. And if he's going out, he's going out in style. And yes, it can't have been easy to see him sacrifice himself, especially given how their past was stolen from them. Thank you for the kind comments and reading.

Now that's an epic cross-over! You can't let this be a one-off encounter . . . Please? *whines plaintively*
Oh, that "like father like daughter" line . . . That was a metaphor, right? . . . 'Cause if not . . . Whoa!
Author's Response:
Case of whoa then my friend cos it ain't a metaphor! As for a one-off encounter. Oh there'll have to be some crossover event at some juncture in time (that is other than in the Multiverse Round Robin II).

RR callback for the win! And go, Tabby, go!
This was perfect for them. And I LOVED McGregor's own intro. Loved. It.
Author's Response:
Glad you liked. One less secret for you to keep now. ;) And hey, it's not as if McGregor was ever above making his own grand 'speechifies!' Thank you for reading.
Date: 24 May 2014 01:45 Title: No Escaping
Oh man. That one ... just man. I don't know what to say. *slow clap*
Author's Response:
Hope that means you liked it! Ha.

OH MY. Love the play here between Chase and Colt. Could these two be a match made in heaven? Or should I say a very fun hell? Fun all around.
Author's Response:
Yeah, fun hell perhaps. Certainly, they are a match for one another - more often a foil. I'm lucky for TheLoneRedshirt lending me Colt for this particular escapade and hopefully there'll be more to come in the future. Glad it was fun and thank you for reading and commenting trekfan.

A guest appearance by McGregor and yet another of Tabatha secrets is revealed. Well delivered.
I feel sorry for the hangman tomorrow.
Author's Response:
Yes, another secret revealed. Thank you FalseBill and hope you've enjoyed the ride. As for the hangman... wait and see.
Date: 24 May 2014 00:27 Title: Queen of Mayhem
MF, another great Chase story and adding Colt was a masterstroke.
Well done as always.
Author's Response:
Thank you. Colt is a great character (thanks to TheLoneRedShirt) and he and Tabatha share very interesting times. Thank you.
Date: 23 May 2014 23:46 Title: No Escaping
Glorious. From McGregor being Chase's father to the multiverse to the Chilo and McGregor's last line... Glorious!
Author's Response:
Ha! Thank you Sarine. Was hoping that the RRII authors especially would get a kick out of that particular reveal and the playing out of that scene. Like Father like Daughter when it comes to lines.
Date: 23 May 2014 22:37 Title: No Escaping
So, McGregor is Tabatha's dad huh? Interesting twist you got here.
Can't wait to see how all this ends.
Author's Response:
Thank you.
Date: 23 May 2014 22:24 Title: No Escaping
quite enjoyable little piece, she's a pistol for sure.
Date: 23 May 2014 21:33 Title: No Escaping
The Chilo! Of course, this isn't necessarily the future that Otra's seen.
Just sayin' ....
Author's Response:
LOL! Not necessarily. Or perhaps so. All we can safely say is: The fat lady ain't over until she's dead, buried, decapitated and blown up.
Date: 23 May 2014 09:43 Title: Queen of Mayhem
Excellent! Love that last line and the twist about the rabbit foot. You have managed to create some really charismatic characters here with a lot of humour (which is not easy to do) and every ficlet is a new adventure. Really enjoyed this!
Author's Response:
Thank you Sarine. Humour is a natural go to place but I agree not always easily pulled off. I'm glad it works here for you. Thrilled with comments like charismatic characters - that makes my day - especially with charries like Tabatha on which such a premise is set. And I am also glad that each ficlet has its own adventure feel to it. I wanted something that would work to a larger picture but at the same time would stand alone too. Thank you for terrific review.
Date: 23 May 2014 07:01 Title: Queen of Mayhem
Ha! Looks like Tabatha has enticed Colt into a situation fraught with danger . . . Sounds like fun! The rabbit foot/ grenade is a clever touch, but not too lucky for the one who picks it up next. More insane antics from Captain Rear of the Year '59!
Author's Response:
Insane antics require partners of equally dubious proper sense of things to do. Colt was/is a perfect partner in - well for a wonder not crime - Really enjoyed taking Colt out for a spin with Tabatha. Her story wouldn't be the same without a mention of John along the way. I dare say they've tangled, sparred and helped one another out in many a circumstance. Look forward to exploring future/past escapades between them.
Date: 23 May 2014 06:41 Title: Queen of Mayhem
Love the twist on the rabbit's foot at the end here. All of these ficlets leave me grinning from ear to ear. I love characters like this.
She's got some brass going after an Orion Slaver ship. Love her pluck.
Author's Response:
Glad you enjoyed the twist. Tabatha most times brings a grin (or so's the hope). Thank you for the kind words. Brass she's got - often times. Pluck - always. But yeah, it costs to see a Slaver. She mgiht turn a blind eye to most other illegal scams and schemes but one which fate she narrowly escaped. Thank you again for reading.
Date: 23 May 2014 02:46 Title: Queen of Mayhem
Haha! Love the reveal at the end, I really thought it was just a trinket until that. This series continues to be such a fun read, the characters are easy to become attached to; the banter is endearing. These are my favorite kinds of stories.
Author's Response:
Oh nothing's ever what it seems ;)
Fun is Tabatha's middle name. Ok, it's not - it's Katherine - but let's not quibble. Glad you're enjoying the character. Her banter is key to her in many ways, so I'm delighted you find it endearing. Thank you loads for reading and commenting.
Date: 23 May 2014 02:15 Title: Queen of Mayhem
I agree this needs to be expanded on. She is definately living up to her name.
Author's Response:
Ha! Well as I said to jespah, at some juncture the events surrounding this are to be told in some fashion as the fallout from her antics come back to bite Tabatha in her (rear-of-the-year-winning) ass.
Date: 23 May 2014 01:54 Title: Queen of Mayhem
Ah a face off with another renegade huh? This should prove interesting to see what you bring for Day 6.
Another enjoyable piece.
Author's Response:
Thank you zeus. Chase has a habit of running into renegades. She lives up to her name after all. And finds trouble all too easily. Or, as in this case, goes seeking it out.
Date: 23 May 2014 01:45 Title: At the End of a Rainbow
Amazing as always. I've really loved this series and each entry gets better. Tabatha's other stories are definitely going on my list when I get moved. I love this character, M.F.
Author's Response:
Thank you RogueJawa. That means a lot. Glad Tabatha is making an impression (she aims to do so after all). PS good luck with the move.
Date: 23 May 2014 01:23 Title: Queen of Mayhem
Expand this, please!
Author's Response:
You never know. It may yet. Colt is TLR's character but we've shared peeps for our stories before. Certainly, the reprecussions of this event actually play a large part in Tabatha's story and so will have to feature in some manner or other. Thank you for the kind words jespah and continued reading.
Date: 23 May 2014 00:02 Title: Born to Fly
More poetic writing! Tabby--oops!--Tabitha is one spunky gal.
Author's Response:
Ha. Thanks M C Pherson. Spunky she was - certainly as a kid. Not sure a grown woman can be called spunky. Of course, Tabatha would disagree with me.
Date: 22 May 2014 22:38 Title: At the End of a Rainbow
Starting to get a feeling of Tabatha as being like a Star Trek Han Solo. Though I guess even Han wouldn't risk tree-top spiders :)
Author's Response:
Yup something of a Trekian Han Solo. Rogue. Almost-pirate. And a penchant for trouble. And an old knackered ship that's got a character of its own. TY for reading.
