I love this, too! What a great meeting to have written, and one I never would have imagined. And yet, there it is, and it works. Excellent.

Author's Response: Yeah, I know, Worf-Spock seems so obvious when you think about it, shame it never happened. Would have been fun to have sent Worf on the Reunification mission with Picard instead of Data, could have gotten a variation on this scene then. Glad you liked it

I auto-love almost anything with Pike, so of course, I love this. I love his diplomacy and levelheadedness, and I love how at the end they compromised on what to do to celebrate.

Author's Response: Wow, that means a lot coming from our resident Pike expert! :) He is a great character and was lots of fun to write for.

Very good Sarine! I've loved every entry of this series, you've really made an impression here. An intergalactic mission is an amazing prospect!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I hope the intergalactic mission will work well since I'm planning on writing some stories about it now. Glad you like the idea of it at least! :)

I love the whole premise here - from a rotating Federation capital so as not to give/show preference to any one race, to the idea of an intergalactic mission.  You've outdone yourself on this one, CS! :D

Author's Response: Thank you so much LDB! I always thought that as the Federation grew, they would have to go this way eventually to avoid becoming too Earth centric. And glad you like the intergalactic mission, I'm working on telling that story right now! :D

Well, said, Marta, and Godspeed.  Exciting to see this bold next step ... makes me wonder what Day Seven will bring!

Author's Response: Thank you kes! Though it is quite eerie, I just finished writing a scene with Marta in the Federation story I'm working on where Data uses that exact word (Godspeed) to wish Marta well on her way! :) Mind-reading much? Hope you like the last part

Man, that ensign will have a story for the rest of his life. Brought a smile to my face ... love the way she just dealt with this and the way Data's words (he is the father here I think) echo.

Author's Response: Thanking you kindly TF! :) Yes, the (adoptive) father is Data. I'm glad you liked Marta.

Ah, nice. Love the callbacks here and the friendship between Data and Worf. JLP would have totally loved to be there (and who says some of him isn't there in some form?). Great interactions.

Author's Response: Thanks man. Glad you liked the back and forth with Data. And yes, with a Borg Alliance there, I'm sure some echo of Locutus would have been there indeed :)

Yay, another interesting step into one of the federation's future heroes.

Well constructed and a joy to read.

Author's Response: Thanks FalseBill! Glad you liked it.

To go that far ahead to the twenty-sixth century is impressive, even if it seems some ensigns remain the same and some captains remain the same. Outstanding piece.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm hoping to return to that captain in the near future, actually. Cheers for the review.

Sarine, another fine installment. I read this pretty early this morning. 5:20 a.m. my time, which its 8:30 a.m. now. This is getting really good Sarine.

Can't wait to see how you wrap all this up.

Author's Response: Thanks zeus! Glad you enjoyed it despite the early hour!! :) I hope you'll like the last installment, it's the one I'm the most worried about so...

Oh! I do so love how the slave race becomes the captain! This has been a very believable evolution, as we go from tentative steps to the wider world. And of course now we're at the tentative steps stage again.

Can't wait to see how you wrap this all up tomorrow.

Author's Response: Thanks jespah! I'm glad you picked up on that. I really wanted to create a captain for the Pioneer who would have the same impact as Worf in TNG, to show again how the Federation had opened itself even further. And yes, a new adventure in the offing in a new galaxy. Watch this space if you're interested to see more. Tomorrow we jump forward another hundred years with some surprise guests at the five hundredth anniversary... :)

Oh another auspicious day, another auspicious moment and another legacy from canon. This time Data's adopted daughter! Nice linkage and of course nice nod to the potential of Data' growth and his life between All Good Things... and this era. And of course, one now is left wondering what is in store for the Federation on the even of the auspicious intergalatactic mission and for Marta Soong and crew too. Spin off?

Author's Response: Oh MF you rock. I was hoping someone would ask about the continuation of this!! :) Yes, spin off indeed. I'm working on a full length story about the Pioneer, Marta Soong and their exploration of the Andromeda Galaxy, hopefully starting sometime in the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know if you're interested? I'm glad you liked the linkage and the legacy of Data and his daughter, I thought it would be interesting to see how he had grown, as you said. Thanks so much for the comment!

Wow. The Borg would have had to have changed a lot to be granted a petition to join the Federation. I do love this, though--the idea that even those who are sworn enemies today can be friends tomorrow. And I love that you chose Data and Worf for this one.

Author's Response: Yep, these are definitely not the Borg we know and loath :) You got it in a tee - yesterday's enemies have always been tomorrow's potential friends. Thanks for the comment!

Truly bringing everyone into the fold now, while each little vignette has something that ties it to the previous one.  Great realization of the Great Bird's vision of the future, and some damn fine writing to boot!

Author's Response: That was definitely the idea. Thank you so much LBD!

This was great.  And I love the message that Spock was trying to impart - just as he, Spock, was the first non-human to serve with humans 100 years ago, now Worf is the first Klingon, who were sworn enemies of humans, and the Federation, 100 years ago.  A lot can change in 100 years, and often for the better, so long as we do not lose siight of the ultimate goal.

Author's Response: Thanks LBD, that is exactly right. Glad you liked this

I loved this!  This is exactly how I imagine the interaction between Spock and Pike - a wholly different relationship than what he had with Kirk.  I love that you drew on Archer's drink with Solkar to get Spock to drink with Pike, and that the captain was magnanimous enough to indulge in Spock's method of celebrating Federation Day as well.  This whole thing is great so far, and I really like the fact that you chose centennials as separation rather than years, or decades.

Author's Response: It has always been clear to me that the relationship Spock later enjoyed with Kirk was only possible because of his earlier one with Pike. Pike in all his incarnations always came across to me as someone who would have been quite a paternal captain, more late-TNG Picard than Kirk. So glad you're enjoying these!

Uncharted territory indeed, Sarine, and very nicely realized. is this the Enterprise-J that was hinted at during the Temporal Cold War episodes of Enterprise? I also have to wonder, are those Borg that have spawned off of Hugh? Very bright future you've painted here, I like it.

Author's Response: Yep, that is supposed to be the J seen in Enterprise. Are they Hugh Borg? As I said below, I will probably be coming back to this in the next few weeks so hopefully have an answer for you then! :)

The Borg welcomed into the fold, not a comforting thought.  Still though, I thought Data and Worf were both very well written, and harkened back to yesterday's entry even.  Well done.

Author's Response: Glad you liked it Mick. The Borg who are being welcomed are no longer the Borg we love to fear, hopefully I'll be able to develop this a little more in the coming weeks or months. Thanks again.

Interesting trip into one of potential Federation future.
The idea of the Borg alliance being welcome does seem strange but it isn't any more than welcoming the Klingons to the UFP. Well Done

Author's Response: Thank you. There is obviously more to the Borg joining the Federation, but in 500 words it is difficult to get into in too much detail! :) I'll probably come back to this at some point, since I'm going to be using this timeline in some upcoming projects. Thanks again for the comment!

FLip.

Ok, shock over (heck no it ain't over! that's a shock going to last - forgot about Borg Alliance and all that).

Have to say, this was so not what I thought the next instalment would bring. But I loved it all the same. I figured we might see Worf in this one because you are cleverly linking in some way the ficlet characters. So the Commodore Data threw for a loop until I saw Worf pop up. Shall we see Data in the next? Interesting to say the very least. And another fantastic instalment cataloguing the rich expansion and peaceful hopes of the Federation. Well done.

Author's Response: Thanks MF! Glad I surprised you. Data will definitely be linked in in the next one, though not the way you may expect... :)

A great little glimpse into Spock's past. I would like to see how he handles that drink. Very good writing!

Author's Response: Thank you!

Quite brilliant. Taking Worf on from the previous story, involving him here and how ancient ol' Worf must be now :)
Rodenberryesque to see that in 2461 the galaxy is at peace.

Author's Response: Thanks. This is really supposed to be an homage to the Star Trek galaxy, so I really wanted to embrace the Rodenberry vision. Not that there are not dark times - the Borg and the Dominion still happen, but I like to think that they would eventually come to a more positive outcome. Thanks for the review!

Quite touching in its way whilst maintaining the chain of the stories. A sense of passing the baton but also how the UFP has changed and grown in three hundred years.

Author's Response: Thanks! That was definitely the idea - each generation passing the baton on to the next. Obviously, that becomes easier as time goes by and I have to think that medical science will have increased even human lifespan (thus why Worf is still there in the next ficlet one hundred years in the future). Thanks for the comment

Good to see Pike in action and written so well. Spock is Spock whatever his age. Kept picturing his look from The Cage. See here in this piece just why Spock did what he did in The Menegarie. Nice work CS

Author's Response: Glad that you saw the Cage Spock, that was definitely in the back of my mind while I was writing. Glad you've enjoyed this.

WHAT?! Now you're being very cryptic here. I'm on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next.

Day 6 should prove interesting.

Author's Response: Hi hi hi... :) Glad this has sparked your interest. I hope you'll like what I do with Day 6!
