In "The Knowing" stories, Earth changes brought Spock and his family to Phoenix, where young Sobek joined them when his father died. "Seventh Inning" showed why Sobek became disillusioned with Spock and the Yanashites. Now, a senseless act of violence disrupts Spock's family and shatters his faith in the Shiav.

When young Sobek attends a baseball game with Spock's son Simon, an incident leaves him deeply disillusioned.
The Vulcan Sobek and his father were included in both of the "Knowing" stories. This tale further explores Sobek and sets the stage for a pivotal story that will follow. I have listed Spock as a character because he is mentioned in several scenes.

This piece of fluff rightly belongs after "Doppelgangers" in my Star Trek: Beyond series, but it is just too frivolous, so I'm sticking it in The Black Hole with all the other misfits.

This story was written to address that issue, as well as a helpful critique by Trekfan regarding Spock and Sulu's relationship in "Cristabeth" (which now follows this one in my Star Trek:Beyond series).
