Aak!  Don't leave it there!  Must...write...more.

Loving Robert's cameo, and am dying to find out if this Jim West is anything like his namesake.  Might we also see an appearance by Doctor Loveless, aka Alexander to us Trekkies? ;-)  A girl can only hope...

This boss Santorini sounds like an interesting fellow.  Can't wait for the dinner with the three goons.

"Damn.  Klingons hit hard."  Another great tongue-in-cheek line.  I would've liked her ripping a chunk from her skirt to bandage Rick's hand...using the nursing skills she learned...at the art college.  Hawh!!

Author's Response: I actually wrote that, but thought that would be too obvious.

Geez - that was like The Three Stooges meet Joe Friday.  Hilarious, and effective.  I'm very much enjoying this light-hearted romp that doesn't take itself too seriously.  Onward and upward. ;-)

Author's Response: This has been a lot of fun to write, I am glad people are enjoying it and appreciating it. What better guys to rough up the hero than three Klingon mobsters?

"We don't serve your kind here."

"Humans?" I asked.

"Dicks."

Hilarious, on a number of levels.

Let's see where Shelley's lead takes him.

I agree - the Arts college line was classic. :D  Very interested to see where it goes from here.

You've certainly captured the feel of the PI movies from the 40's and 50's.  Nice start--I'm intrigued.  Off to read more now.

Well, at least she didn't rip a tourniquet from the hem of her skirt!

Author's Response: That was my first thought, and I was gonna go there, but thought against it. I made the right choice.

That bomb has about the longest fuse - EVER. I loved all the reasons why it couldn't be thrown this way or that way. Baby ducks?!

Author's Response: Thanks. I figure if this were filmed the bomb scene would be less than a couple minutes, but in written form it takes longer. The bomb scene was a nod to Batman from 1966 where Batman was trying to unload a bomb in the same way. I was als0 inspired by the football fight from Flash Gordon. Smitty really comes out in this chapter, and it was too fun to have him act as a caddy when Dylan was hitting the bomb like a golf ball.

"I lit it, took a puff and blew smoke into the air because the place needed more atmosphere." - Epic!

I also adored the coconuts line.

Ready for more!!

Author's Response: Thanks. When I heard the call for a Crimes Challenge, I instantly thought old detective movie. In addition to trek, I love old pulp novels, comics and film noir. I also thought this would give me a chance to do something different. the coconut line is borrowed from Phil Hartman...he said it in an SNL audition and I did it as tribute to him.
