A fascinating sort of look at the aftermath. I could certainly see possible ship between Riley and Sulu. Which would be nice, the notable lack of diversity broadcast in the 1960s hopefully wouldn't apply in the 2260s. ;) But overall, it's a great little piece that covers a whole lot of viewpoints and further helps cement that a 'reset' button doesn't actually exist.

Author's Response:

LOL!  A pairing I hadn't considered, but you've certainly planted that kernel in my brain.  As I've said before, I don't believe in the 'reset' button, and have made it my mission to show the 'complications' that arise from various episodes that were swept under the rug by the series.

Being the romantic and non-slasher that I am, I loved the parts with Spock and Chapel, even though they didn't make a love connection. I feel for her mortification, but even more moving was Spock not understanding WHY she would love him. His childhood insecurities bubble up in interesting ways.

I also liked how you treated the friendship between Kirk and Spock... still new, still fragile, still surprising to both of them. It hadn't yet really been tested, so they don't yet know how deep and solid it will become. You convey that in both explicit and subtle ways, and always in very affective and moving ways. Thank you for another good one! I'm losing a lot of sleep because I keep staying up to read "just one more..."

Author's Response:

I'm glad the early friendship worked well for you.  I always try to take into account when an episode or a particular story I'm writing would take place in this evolving friendship and write it accordingly.  I think Spock just found women in general and Chapel in particular confusing and incomprehensible when it came to their romantic feelings.  Not so different from the average man, yes? ;-)

Thanks again for taking time to read and review - feedback inspires me to keep at this.  And I'm sending you a virtual pot of coffee to help compensate for the late nights. ;-)

The aftermath of that episode lasted a very long time. Nicely handled. You have a really good grasp of the characters. A joy to read.

Nutty
(Still haven't written anything)

Very nicely done. I don't go in much for prolonged introspection - but you handled it well and judiciously. Thank you for not trampling on Chapel with a lot of hand-wringing and angst.

Author's Response:

Thanks, KayCee.  LOL!  Chapel has taken enough flak from the crew already - McCoy especially - so I didn't see the need for me to stomp on her as well.  I'm glad the introspection wasn't too over-the-top.  Thanks for reading and making the time to review.
