In an opening chapter you manage to give a sense of the characters and the relationship between the two. You also manage to create a future world of scholars/researchers who use time travel to explore the past. All very fascinating and of course all done incredibly well by being made to seem everyday. Of course, I dare say it won't remain everyday and that things are going to go off the rails here shortly. The trip back is going to be eventful somehow. So she says Yes to something - a marriage proposal perhaps? And I wonder is she actually pregnant. An intriguing idea is forming here.

This is promising. I love how you just dump us right into a world where time travel is part of life and a functional part, at that. And I like Simon and Kelsey (though my mind went immediately to Simon and Kaylee from Firefly and now I picture them looking like that. Don't know why.). Her "Yes!" at the end has me wondering if she's answering a Very Big Question, which could be sweet. Of course, the whole piece was peppered with ominous little hints that all may not go as planned ... like the necklace made of alien stone she's stubbornly sneaking along with her. I'm so interested to see where this is going!
