What a beautiful piece of writing! Great imagery and I felt so sad that Spock had never taken the effort to ask her. If I understand correctly, Spock's sudden insight came from the fact that his quarters were like home, and perhaps Amanda's strange actions reminded her of home, too.

What a poignant vignette! And very true to a the son/mother relationship. As children we don't really question what our parents do--parents are weird, and we know that. But as adults, we realize there may be more to their odd choices than we understood, and those choices take on deeper meaning. I liked how you portrayed that with just the simple image of Amanda washing something important.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! For a short piece, it was some work writing it.

Oh beautiful. A wonderful capture of Spock's thoughts and how they fell back to this memory. And a wonderfully envoked memory too - his mother washing heirlooms - which no doubt seemed illogical or inefficient. But for Amanda it was part of her human nature and her heritage. No doubt she watched her mother do the same. Wonderful little observations on Spock's part that means to say wonderful observations on your part Steff. Very well done. The Spock / Amanda relationship is as compelling and compulsive reading as the Spock / Sarak relationship. So nice to see it exlored in this little way.

Author's Response: Thank you very much, Miranda.

Just stunning imagery conveyed in a yearning, poignant way by someone who would never admit to allowing himself such luxuries.  The detail of that moment, frozen in time, is achingly perfect.

Kudos!

Author's Response: Thank you much, Sam!

Uncertain? It looked on the mark to me. The imagery is so sharp and clear. Lovely. :)

Author's Response: Spock's headspace isn't a place I can walk around too easily, unlike Scott. However, I am always glad when people tell me it came across as true; thank you!

I love this. Period. Like a piece of art I've seen at the Getty, the images you paint with words are like, Titian or Renoir. Gracias.

Author's Response: I don't know if I'm worthy of that praise, but I will certainly keep trying to live up to it. Thank you.

I have and always will admire your imagery. It's timeless. And so beautiful.

Author's Response: Thank you. I've never been thrilled with this one, but I think it has more to do with how uncertain I am writing Spock. Regardless, I'm always glad when people enjoy it.
