Adami is quite diarming here, even though one doesn't quite know what to make of her or her motivations and intentions. In that she is so like her Prime version who you couldn't be sure of trusting at all. But here, the need to be careful and secret is perhaps adding that element to her character. A very interesting characterisation of Adami and how very hard for Dukat to try and trust his safety and most especially that of Ziyal's in her hands.

I think that AU Winn isn't sure of *herself*, to be honest. She has a real legacy to live up to in the form of her late mother, a lot of need for secrecy, and her own faith is in question. But the interaction with THIS Dukat is quite different, I think, when you look at how he responded to her complaint about not experiencing the Prophets. I think there's a key difference in mindset between the Bajoran religion (and the Pah-Wraith cult) and the Oralian Way here, when it comes to the role of experience. At least in my own version (which differs to canon), the Oralians have no relics like the Orbs that can be guaranteed to provide religious experiences, none of the directness that comes with interacting with the Prophets and Pah-Wraiths. Maybe Dukat's answer will be meaningful...
Honestly, though, I'm not sure who's more mistrustful in this passage, though. AU Dukat certainly has reasons to have trouble trusting. Yet AU Winn...he DOES put her in a potentially dangerous position with his presence. And he DID unfortunately have a pretty severe flashback. :-(
