It doesn't quite sound like Sisko but you raise some valid points about a measured but just response in the face of such aggression. A story very worthy of 'thought for the day' title.

I can see a lot of anger here, but that anger doesn't blind Sisko. He knows and understands that the humans and the Federation are not perfect and they have their own problems and shortcomings, but he knows that they are nothing in comparison with what the Founders are like.
Sisko seems to start to understand that there are no rules in war. Even if humans have them, the others don't and unless something isn't done--it would destroy them all.
A powerful piece.

Thanks. This was written of course, before one side in our politics decided to win elections and silence dissent using this tragedy. If you want a different perspective on this same scenario, the final chapters of the novella 'Telling' do just that.

Raw does describe it. It almost wrote itself while I watched CNN's footage of the dust storm that engulfed certain office areas.
