I think it's very interesting to see the Enterprise portrayed as a "person".

Nicely done. I can see how an non-living machine (well, sort of a living machine with the bio-neural processors) could feel violated being injected with Borg nanoprobes. So in effect, it makes sense that the ship felt like a part of the Borg Collective. 1701-E has sure been its fair share of hell whether in canon or in the DS9 and TNG relaunch stories.

I can sure see the Enterprise-E having little faith in Riker with his "revolutionary battle tactics" that do still inflict a lot of damage to the ship those tactics are supposed to protect. And, of course, the ship having some kind of special bond with Data and being affected more by his death than any other crewmember.

Through all that, she's done her bit for king and country. Too bad technological lead to her decommissioning.

Well, I gotta say that was an interesting angle to take on matters. And it was actually very effective. The Ent-E has had a fairly tumultous history even in canon, but I like how you added in details either from your own imaginations or from the Trek Lit verse. It all added up to a greater sum, fleshing out the history of the ship and indeed her crew.

Particular points of praise for the attitude to Riker and his apparently 'revolutionary' tactics that hold no water with the Ent-E itself! That was funny and one could see its point. I also liked how it viewed Picard with respect and highlighting many of his good points. A kind of return of respect to the captain. Then there's the depiction of how the Borg assault in First Contact was actually a bit more harrowing for the ship than might be assumed - effectively it was a part of the collective in some small way. Wow. Likewise, the connection the ship feels to Data because of the link they had made and how things went for that. A neat touch to the proceedings, especially given the faith the Ent-E had in being willing to allow in an emergency situtaion all controls to be handed to Data.

Then we come to the end. A sad, unqualified ending for the brave ship whose career is cut short by virtue of the leaps in technology. It is now to be consigned to the dustbin. Aw.

As I said, a strangely effective piece, with great details and ellaborations. Well done.
