This one drove home to me in a way I'd never realized before just how much alike Spock and Tuvok really are.

For some reason when I read the part about Keiko planning a desert Zen garden and using Vulcan plants in it, and Yoshi still speaking Bajoran and maybe getting into a special school because of it, it made me cry.

This is good. But I'd like to see one about Spock. We know he chose to be Vulcan, because in another story, Q sais something about him being on Romulus, But what were his thoughts and feelings as he made that choice? How did the change affect him? How is he adjusting? I want to know!

Wow. Just...wow.

Is that title taken from the Heinlein story of the same name. The concept of essential systems & the critical role of engineers is the same. The difference would be that, as far as is apparent, the dissent isn't from within the technician cadre — although O'Brien is espousing the same doctrine of Functionalism as underpinned Heinlein's musings.

Wow, Janeway is not pleased.  This is a fascinating premise.  And so sad ....

I didn't realize the Q left Voyager where it was. Jesus, that's a cold and lonely fate. This is generally not a happy tale, y'know? That Tuvok continues on this course is believable but remarkably fatalistic, too.

That was both interesting and needed. It answered a lot of questions in a concise format.

Y'know, I was wondering about the Link and Odo. Interesting that they want to revert to their old ways.

Never considered it this way before reading, even after the Janeway sequence. Torres is in an odd spot. Maybe she should form a gang? Get involved in crime or some other form of thrill-seeking?

Hmm, rather low key. I guess confession on one's deathbed is traditional. Be nice of Picard got the letter, though.

You did a fantastic job on Part 6. I can't imagine how much time and energy went into this chapter of your series. From what I read, lots and lots of thought.I'd forgotten the Douwd but it makes sense that at least some would get involved in your tale. Very clever. You've delved deep into ST lore to build your world and it paid off.

I take it back-this is the best so far! How you thought up all of the consequences of Q warfare is beyond me. You have created the essence of the Continuum with all of its rules in a way that makes it totally believable. Awesome!

The best so far that I've read in your saga. You really do Lady Q well.

Very clever. Song. I like that. I like the way you are gradually accounting for most of the canon characters, too.

Ok, a little of the outside picture rears its head. Interesting if vague.

That was harsh! Hard-hitting and nasty but totally relatable. Poor girl.

This is a great premise. I am disturbed that not all parts of the tale are posted-I hope you will fix that. I like to finish what I start!

Author's Response: Everything that is written is posted. I've been working on this series since 2003 or thereabouts, and it's supposed to have between 31 and 33 separate stories in it. I've made a commitment to get story 13, which will be fairly long, done by May 27th and then a bunch after that will be much shorter so I can just knock them out.

A terrific take on episodes that really should have shown that much more was at stake than either Janeway or Q showed/believed.

I think you take a fascinating turn on the story and the imposed sentence to humanity is terrifying after centuries of star trekking.

Wow what a letter for Picard to receive!

That is a fairly powerful piece of writing for the fact it comes from Q whom we wouldn't suspect could write such things and yet it does tally with how we've seen him onscreen. Anyway, well done.

That was as intense as it was revealing. I think I learned more about the Q in that one story than in all their appearance in the various Trek incarnations combined. For the first time I got a grasp of how truly awesome their powers are, and how infinitesimal humanoids appear to them. Lady Q's agony at killing another of her kind was palpable and drove home the desperation of their plight. For near-gods to kill one another, wiping out countless ages of knowledge and experience over something as human as ideology... that's both awesome and tragic.

A powerful piece that took Data in an unexpected direction.

Interesting take on the higher order powers in the galaxy. I hadn't considered whose else's toes the Q might have stepped on with their blockade of humanity. Obviously, the Q and the Prophets have some kind of agreement, but is there anyone else out there with a vested interest in the outcome?
