Author's Response: Thanks, MF! I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. I chose to have Caprio be a kid for the exact reason you mentioned, and because if he had been an adult, he would have been too stuck in his ways to change.

Quite a thorough introduction to a planet that kept as much of itself secret as it was an unknown to the readers being introduced to it. Liked the unique societial structure and the reasoning that lies behind it. Using a child's eyes to reveal the world to the reader and Kirk and his crew was a smart choice as it allowed for a lot of explanation and questioning. Love Spock's "Everything is well organized here" comment. Hee hee. Like I said, a thorough introduction.
