I use to write for a paper here in San Diego. And you really have the feel down quiet well. Your style of story telling is unique; I like that!!

I'm gratified to see 'Dispatches' appearing here on Ad Astra. This is a terrific collection that helps give new insights into the conflict which brought about the birth of the Federation. Your talent for presenting the viewpoints of both sides in a believable fashion only adds to the realism of your reporting.

Fantastic stuff!

Uh-oh, the tension is really ratcheting up!

I'm really enjoying seeing the interplay between the various media sources and between them and the CoP offisioals--as well as the actual chain of events.

Just one question, about the non-Earth-based news services: I was wondering if you think they're all going to approach journalism with the same set of structures and standards as Earth-based papers.

For instance, I would have thought (personally) that there'd be a chance that Tellarites might not believe in objectivity in the news in the same way we do--that instead media outlets might be more willing to make their agenda known and to mix commentary and fact.  That's just my personal feel, anyway, or one example of how things could be mixed up.

Overall, though, please understand I'm really liking this and I want to keep reading! :-)

I shall be very interested to find out exactly what lessons Starfleet believes it's learned from the Xindi attacks and how--and to what degree of effectiveness--they'll employ them.

On a side note, I can't imagine Starfleet is pleased about the Tellarite Information Service letting out more specific information about the Romulans (though it seems in character, as I cannot imagine there being a lot of restraints--if any--on the Tellarite press, on their world!).

Good attention to structure again...and I think I'm hooked!

VERY well done.  Not only can I see that you have the general tone of a newspaper article down--you have the inverted-pyramid structure too, which gives it an even more authentic feel.

And a great hook into your story, to boot!  The Romulan War is definitely something I've wanted to know more about, so I'll definitely be following your work for more! :-)

A fascinating piece of journalism about a really interesting time in Federation history. And you really hit a journalistic note with it, too! It almost invites people to go and write stories based entirely off of your press releases, like a universal reaction to things going on. Awesome idea.
