Interesting, at the end of Divided Loyalities, Teero Anaydis was in contact with some kind of telepathic presence. Was that telepathic presence somehow connected with those blue/purple parasite things? Anyway I liked the ending, you're clearly setting up something bigger for the Lambda Paz crew (or your series universe), nice one!

This was a very intriguing story, and that added to its interest. One last thing; the thing with that bomb (you know blue or red wire) how cliched was that?

Author's Response: Yes, it was cliched, but the point of that whole sequence was the station security chief decided he could not afford to be wrong under those circumstances and had it beamed off the starbase and that bit about not being able to flip a coin was based on a scene on "Human Target". Guerrero isn't sure which wire to pull to disarm the bomb and Winston hears a coin dropping over the phone and exclaims, "Did you just flip a coin?!" And that final scene involving the LP crew is foreshadowing to a post-Dominion War alien threat. Stay tuned.

Margose, that pip-squeak, a shapeshifter? Get out of here! Markalis was the changeling, but I think the changeling is also impersonating Lenaris.

Author's Response: Because someone wrongly fails the blood test (Bashir falsely implicating Eddington) does not necessarily follow that the person administering the test is a Changeling (remember Sisko being falsely implicated as a Changeling infiltrator). The dead Changeling was just a diversion to give the crew the impression a Changeling infiltrator was causing these odd malfunctions.

Question; is Section 31 really explicitly stated in the Federation charter? If it is then far more people would know about it. Or maybe this article 14 is buried away somewhere in the complexity and scale of the articles comprising the Federation charter.

Or perhaps it is implicitly refered to, but the name of the organization is not mentioned. Otherwise so many people would know about Section 31, the DS9 episode 'Inquisition' would not make any sense; how would Section 31 be a top-secret organization if it is mentioned explicitly in the Federation Charter?

Author's Response: Section 31 is referred to in Article 14, Section 31 of the pre-UFP Earth Starfleet charter as established in the official explanation for the TOS Klingons two-parter. I would imagine that the language of it is very vague and in some way resembles the Bush Doctrine essentially giving the US permission to ignore Article 51 of the UN Charter outlawing unprovoked wars of aggression when it is considered inconvenient.

Haha! I love it when people say things that foreshadow important events, but say such events are impossible. Also liked the "This Day In History" bit at the end.

Author's Response: As your namesake said, "Things are only impossible until they're not." Of course, the Dominion make victory easy. It could have been even worse had Odo not been able to convince the female Founder to surrender-- somewhere in the forty percent range going against what was orbiting Cardassia Prime.

And I am saddened to know that people the likes of Glenn Beck survive into the 24th Century.

Author's Response: Unfortunately, in an even more technologically society, the spreading of misinformation and half truths is a strong possibility. I would imagine that many Bajorans would start become disenfranchised with how the early stages of the Dominion War had played out. That wasn't covered much beyond Winn's negotiation of a non-aggression pact. Epilogue 2 offers an interesting twist with the parasites from "Conspiracy", if only Glenn Beck was under alien influence.

Very excellent piece! I could almost hear Keith Olbermann speaking this. I'm pleased to know that people are the voice of reason even in the 24th Century.

Author's Response: Thanks. Propaganda, I'm sure, can still serve as an effective tool, and so the Federation News Service often comes along to debunk that propaganda.
