OMG. All right, I started off just thinking this was going to be a fun little jaunt where they might meet the captain a few minutes late and learn a lesson, but then Musinger just-- walked right into it. I started suspecting he might be about to stick his foot into the pile with the red uniform, but it was the 'bigger and better things' that got me, and then I started grinning like an idiot.

What a charming story. Satterwhite was awesome and handled it brilliantly, and you made me grin like a shark myself, all teeth and 'HA!' I think that no, probably he won't live it down. And shouldn't! Nice work!

I cannot believe I didn't review this one!  I read it and loved it, and this piece, and your other "House Rules" pieces, are ones that I actually pull out and re-read every so often just for fun. :-)

What I love is how you're able to develop people all the way up and down the chain of command, and make this feel like a real, everyday workplace.  That's not a bad thing; it means your characters are relatable.  You can almost believe, reading this, that this could happen and these could be you and your neighbors in space.

And that's where we get to the hilarious, unbelievably embarrassing incident Musinger set himself up for.  This just goes to show why assuming is a bad thing to do.  While it's true that sometimes there's truth in the stereotype--they did get it right, that she had a background requiring precision--you can't let that take you the whole way.

The best part is the combination of Sydney's sweet tone and sharp wit.  She knows full well how to use it, and she wields it like a weapon.

Still holds up even on the nth read!

Hee hee. Loved this. Actually before I comment galore on the humour and wit of it all, and any scene is made all the more funny and hilarious when one finds themselves cringing for the person involved because you know what is coming - wait I didn't wait before commenting on the humour - anyway the humour is spot on and very nicely set up. From Darrin viewing the captain 'Red' only side on abd being all master of observation about her hair, etc, but missing the blindingly obvious. Cracks me up so it does I.S. Really well done. I love the pace and the patter of the banter between Clark and Darrin not to mention how Sydney herself weighs in at the end. I alos like that the various observations Darrin did make about Sydney are in fairness quite accurate. Well done again.

That... was... simply fantastic!!!

Oh, my God, talk about stepping into it on day one with your new CO!  Darrin better hope that in this case first impressions don't leave a lasting stain on his career.

Great job, thank you, I really needed a laugh about now.

That was funny.  Poor Darrin!  Well handled by the captain, though!
