Wow! If Q had got his way it seems like Earth would have descended far beyond the worst ravages and woes of the 20th and 21st century.

Neat. Weird, but neat.

Author's Response:

That just about sums up my fanfic career! :) :D

Sorry it took me so long! I kind of fell off the face of fandom-earth for the month of February and most of March, but I'm kind of back now.

I wasn't sure if we were supposed to know who the two speakers were, because I don't think I've read all of your Ancient Destroyer cycle, but I got a clear sense of who they were and why they prefer the "greener grass" of a different form of hell. It's true, the Judgement Day universe is totally up front about how horrible it is, and there's a solidarity in that, a certain grim pleasure to be had in the knowledge that everyone else is suffering like you and everyone else feels the same way you do about it. The enemy is obvious, even if completely untouchable. "Ancient Destroyer" deals with a much subtler horror, and I'm not sure which *I* would prefer to live in, either.

Author's Response:

They weren't anybody special, and that was the point. Just plain folks looking for something 'better' than what they knew.

I'm really glad to have your review, and glad that it poses the same kind of dillemma in your mind--thanks!

BTW, the idea for this started off from an episode of 'Good Times' Florida and the kids were moving South to be with James (who died that same episode) and Florida lamented that they would encounter another family like them moving North, shouting at each other 'Go Back! Go Back!'

Thanks for making such a great hell to write in! :D

Quite hard to read - in part because of the larger arcs of both stories - but also the bleakness of the lives we find therein. Very well rendered.

Author's Response:

Out of the frying pan and into the skillet! Sorry if it was a bit thick in terms of continuity.

Weird-and hard to follow if you haven't read both story cycles. I have, and found it interesting enough, if a bit hard to follow.

Author's Response:

But did you find it hard to follow?

Eerie and uncomfortable, which fits right in with that particular universe. Nice job!

Author's Response:

Thanks! I've long wondered whose grim AU was harder to live in, mine or Alara's. An honest Hell versus one that decieves you with the mask of Paradise.
