Why is it, that I think Vick just went from the frying pan and into the fire there? Poor guy -- I don't think he knows what he's getting into. Nice twist on the challenge theme!

Some future. Section 31? This kid doesn't know what he's signed on for. Will you be continuing this tale? i'd like to see how things shake out for him.
Author's Response:
Oh yeah-this is basically a short shot of this kid's story. I'm working on a novel with him featuring in it.

Interesting look at Section 31's recruiting practices. If they make a habit of getting their personnel from brigs and prisons, it's hardly a wonder that they've become as cold and indifferent as they seem to be.
And the power they seem to have here, being able to wipe people's memories just to recruit a new member, is downright scary.
Author's Response:
Well thank you CeJay! Yes, Section 31 wields alot of power.

Oh a scary brainy idea trekfan. That sounds very much like the kind of scary sh*t Section 31 would pull in order to recruit. Not everyone would agree with their ethos and policies and so hooking people in because they are beholden or blackmailed to the Section is something else. A dark and twisted take on the challenge.

I always suspected this was how S31 got its operatives. Find osmeone with nothing to lose and everything to gain ... and own them.
Well done, making their target seem both sympathetic and chilling. Great entry!

Man, that's CREEPY.
I am reminded of a description I read of the Obsidian Order in The Never-Ending Sacrifice--that they find a void in a person's life and they rush in to fill it.
You sure show just how much like the Obsidian Order 31 is, in just that short vignette...
