This is still extremely chilling, and while it at least makes it less resemble a sexual violation, there's still something quite horrifying about the idea of Spock essentially entering Valeris' mind with the equivalent of an H-bomb hovering in the background.

Now there's something I'm trying to figure out about your version of Valeris.  Was she actually raised by the Klingons?  Or was she "just" abused by them until someone (presumably Starfleet) came to rescue her?  The fact that she has some semblance of Vulcan discipline makes me think she couldn't have been raised by them--yet at the same time the absolute twistedness of her logic reminds me more of a Klingon trying to justify a blood feud than of anything truly logical.

The look into the cruelty Spock was subjected to...not only is it awful how cruel children can be (and really children are often even crueler than adults in some ways), but the fact that apparently his teachers never did anything to stop it is also horrible.

I think of all of the insults, I found "Terrans are made of dirt!" to be the worst one.  That may surprise some people, but given the description in the Bible, that manages to be both a racial and a religious slur at the same time.

Author's Response:

No, Starfleet rescued her  - after some fairly horrid stuff. And you're right - children can be quite cruel, a major theme in a series called Elfen Lied that I write about as well. I have some stuff in me from that, so this one was a bit raw. Thanks.

I offer an apology-this is the most chilling of tales. Excellent, I like the "red shadow" aspect, well thought out.

Author's Response:

Oddly, this started because her forced-meld scream reminded me of Kim Cattrall's orgasmic scream from 'Porky's', and as a result I never took it as seriously as some fans. Seeing how it was viewed, and how it came across in subsequent viewings, I thought hard about what else she *could* have been screaming about. I'm glad it worked.
