Thanks! I actually have another AU story in which it figures, 'The Window', though not in a nice way at all. In this one, I figged Kirk and Carol couldn't be supremely bitter, at least before David's death. This story originated from a Captain America story by the late Mark Grunewald, who cued readers to the idea that leaving all these super-weapons lying around after the big battles was incredibly stupid.
