A very good story, and a touching tribute to James Doohan. I'm sorry to see that it hasn't gotten any reviews in over two years -- it deserves better.

A couple of minor points -- Scotty's speech about the radio plays goes on a bit too long without any hints of his Scottish accent, and according to "The Star Trek Chronology" Star Trek III is set in 2285 and IV in 2286, so the scene with Admiral Bennett should have been in 2286 or 2287 rather than 2284. But the characterizations are excellent (especially Scotty and Pike), and the last paragraph is especially touching.

Author's Response:

Thanks. Sorry I got the chronology wrong. As to the accent, I always have a bit of a problem - either I pull back like I did here or go over the top in terms of representing it. I have the same problem with MASH's Charles Winchester and Lost In Space's Doctor Smith, usually with me almost writing their words phonetically.

And I certainly appreciate the review.
