Wow, this is one helluva opener! :-) Great to see Beth raising crew morale with the senior staff waiting on the junior officers and enlisted personnel. Richardson, unrepentant cad that he is, is beginning to grow on me. Even his open desire for Beth is a point of humor for the both of them, but despite his lecherous leanings, no one can deny that he's an outstanding physician.
The mystery of Beth's sleepless nights is only compounded by the mention of the mysterious idol in her quarters.
You really know how to whet a person's appetite!
Author's Response: Richardson is as close to a gold-dipped sphincter as one can get. While he really is an insensitive narcissist, when he cares about a person it's as real as real can get and his loyalty is unwavering. It's just a shame that there are so few people he allows himself to care about. Thanks Sam!

Uh-oh, THAT's not a good sign. I don't want to blurt my theory about what's in that idol and who all sent it--but I am very suspicious of that thing for sure.
I really hope she'll be OK soon!

Great teaser! I always loved the "I'm a doctor not a ....!" dialoges. I look forward to seeing more from you soon. Here's hoping you and Bill have finished arguing and more of Book II is coming soon (trying hard not to whine, but "are we there yet?"). Thanks again for your fine writing!

I loved this! I wish I knew what happened next. Great teaser, and I'm glad my challenge inspired someone to write something!
Author's Response: I LOVED your challenge kes! I only wish that I had been able to finish up with this before the deadline. I'm sure it would have been a different tale too. Maybe we can try again in the future?!
