Except for the possibility of the theory about the Maquis being a malcontent round-up, No. I just wanted a piece that, as the title suggests, reaches into deep cynicism and paranoia. The kind of thing two Starfleet officers might spout while drunk and speculating.

Author's Response: Actually, I just wanted a 'hit-and-run' piece that used extremely cynical views about some of our most basic DS9 assumptions. No follow-up is planned. Thanks!
