This is only the second fic I've read in ST:AOS (I'm a long term ST:TOS fan though). A nice introduction for me :D
It would certainly be an interesting meeting between the two captains, and I like your interpretation...though I'm worried where you've sent the poor man :D I also like the focus on the Spock/Uhura relationship and how Spock reflexively puished her away somewhat while grieving - good character point.

In a kinda-sorta way, you can meet the man the reflected Kirk-amalgam became in 'Down Through The Circles' a part of The Ancient Destroyer Cycle, but its a series unto itself, so you can decide. I also wanted to repair the K&U relationship (though for all I know 12 will start with it still icy) and I'm glad this worked for you. Thanks!
