I will entirely admit to being lost. The story was interesting, if not very confusing -- I suppose part of this might be that I've only read bits and pieces of this story-arc of yours and not all of it in context. If you were aiming for a nightmarish sense of disorientation in the beginning, you definitely managed that.
Author's Response: There was that, to be sure. Also, Peter is a lot more powerful than even this story lets on. But without a plan, all that means nothing. He tried to play the young hero, to be the 8th member (variously defined) of that legendary bunch, and as future stories will reveal, he paid a hideous price for this.

I'm not yet familiar with the larger universe in which this was set, but I found myself empathizing greatly with Peter. That was such a confusing and terrible thing to go through, and to have it end in such a way with such a bleak mid-term outcome makes it that much worse. It's a definite fit for the challenge, for sure!
Author's Response: Thanks. I even thought of calling this story 'Thunder Child'. Peter will one day stand with his heroes, but that time is not yet. He and another character are the MS's of this series, but only technically. They will fumble, sometimes badly, and true to the anime/manga tales that helped inspire me (along with ST itself, natch), more than once, they will walk blindly into a trap while not realizing it at all.
