Now See, That is not right. One short story breaks your heart, and the other one makes it swell up makes you smile. Excellent read, another "Elseworlds" type story. I am enjoying these trips in the Heritage storyline. It's like you can see them , you write so well the experiences and just enough detail to let the mind "Perceive" the rest.

Author's Response: HEE hee! I love these two. Again, it's a blast to put my own characters through "what-f" scenarios. Glad you enjoyed it...and THANK YOU for reading it!

I STILL love this sweet little AU!  Beth being a full-time cook, and feeling fulfilled in that job, is a really cute thing to see. ;-)  On a more serious note it was also very neat to see someone portrayed who is happy in a job that is not being a starship commander--I mean, I love starship commanders, but it's also neat to see that a less "glorious" job is just as meaningful and exciting.  And her particular job--it sounds as exciting as being the cook for the White House!

I admit, though, I kinda creeped out at Deanna's advice at the end.  She's right about the idea of marriage--and I also get that the portrayal of Betazoids as an almost hedonistic society is canon, but still.  It creeps me out.  I get dating, but men as toys to try and throw away?  That's sad. :-(

A reality where Beth never joined Starfleet, but where she still found love with Tristan and happiness with her life's chosen work.  Heck, perhaps she might have been happier in this reality, given what the original Beth has had to suffer during her career with Starfleet.

Wonderful story!

Author's Response: Hey - told ya it was pure fluff... :)

Aw Teri, that was so sweet. And so nice to think that in this AU they do appear to be headed to a happier end than the last AU! Hee hee.
