Author's Response: It always bothers me that certain characters always end up demonised in fanfic, because we love the canon characters so much and always want them to be right, and so we paint their foes and ex-wives and fathers as monsters. So this was my attempt to flesh out who Tom's father really is inside my head, and how complex the relationship might have been--even more so than Paris realsied as a young man.
