This is great! I love the relationship between Gaila and Keenser -- you managed to give him a dimension that makes him not annoying. I like the present-tense telling, too, gives it a different feel, very stream-of-consciousness.
Author's Response: I adore Gaila, and I love that fandom ahs given her this rich life beyond just the two brief scenes she's in, in the film. Also, I loved the idea of her and Keenser forging a friendship over Gamma shift in Engineering. Thanks for taking the time to review.

Yeah I liked the snapshot overview very much. It worked very well and it helped to dip into this little character who has caught many people's imaginations.
I liked the approach. It might not be fitting for many stories but I can see potential for myself to use a similar approach some time. So thanks for the style tutition and the bit of inspiration. And again, well done.

This was different but still well written and expansive in what it covered. It was a nice touch to see a 'lower decks' character of sorts written about and by virtue of said approach seeing how other big names are seen. I'm left wondering what Gaila's future holds on the Yorktown and considering her penchant for getting caught up in the arms of her CO it could well be very colourful. LOL.
A different mode of writing little seen or used by me that nevertheless was effective in what it was trying to convey and to cover. Perhaps the best approach to cover the time span you wished to cover.
Author's Response: Thanks so much for the kind words! In a way, it's a style of storytelling you would normally see in fairy tales and folktales (which was part of what I was going for). But I loved showing her life in little snapshots that highlight her relationships--particualrly with Uhura, Keenser, and Scotty. I love that Gaila has just caught the imaginations of fans and is living this fantastic vivid, rich life in fan fiction, despite only being in a handful of scenes in the film.

Its pretty much a synopsis rather than a story. Shouldn't it be in the meta cat? Just asking-it's enlightening and I hope to read some of the stories alluded to.
Author's Response: While I do have some Gaila stories in the works, this isn't meant to be any kind of meta essay or synopsis of stories to come. This is actually a valid literary format, but I'm guessing one you haven't run into before? Fair point, if you don't like this sort of thing.
