This is absolute, absolute genius. I adore 1776! But… don’t you think Spock would have at least been in the band, if not the actual show? (I think he would make an amazing Dickinson singing “Cool, Considerate Men”!) Also makes me wonder who the rest of the cast is… Uhura as Abigail Adams (or Martha Jefferson haha)? Scotty as Colonel McKean?
Author's Response: Thank you! Heh, I thought about that, but my Spock muse flatly refused to sing. Something about not being confused with his actor. XD Unfortunately I haven't actually seen the play (blasphemy, I know! It's on my List!) and can't really comment on the other characters, but someone suggested M'Ress as Abigail and Uhura as Martha, and from the little I've read that sounds about right. *grins*

I LOVE this...it definitely has the feel of a Diane Duane passage. I really love her vivacious take on the Enterprise crew--and this definitely fits!
I also love the little real-life-based "inside jokes" there...the comments about making Kirk wear the hairpiece, and the fact that he may not be able to sing, but he sure can shout! ;-)
So I'm guessing the play is "1776"?
Author's Response: I'm so glad you find it so! She's a major influence for me, especially regarding TOS. Heh, the inside jokes came really naturally -- especially the "hairpiece", which in this case would be a little eighteen-hundreds ponytail! And yep, it's 1776! It's completely random, but sounded like a fun thing for them to do. Thanks for your encouraging words! ^___^

Author's Response: The play is '1776', and the lines are from the song 'Sit down, John!' when he's trying to get Congress to vote for independence and they're all bored and won't cooperate. You can find it on Youtube if you're curious. I think Kirk'd make a fine, fire-eating John Adams. *grin*

Good story but it could have run longer. I was just getting into it when it ended. What was it they were performing-1776?
Author's Response: It is short; I wrote it very quickly and posted it the same day -- probably could have drawn it out more but I didn't want it to end up languishing on the desktop (which is a bad trend my stories tend to get). But yep, they were doing 1776. *grin* It's completely random, but the idea of the whole Congress yelling at Kirk just made me laugh. Thanks for reviewing, and for the concrit!
