Wow, great way to explain that. I was wondering what happened to Number One and Tyler, and now that's been answered. Of course, Doctor Boyce probably retired (I imagine) and I'm sure Engineer Berry would have made her way to another vessel, unless she was put in charge of constructing something on the Enterprise and then moved on to another project.

I'd love to see more stories about what happened to the "Cage" crew. Great stuff.

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked this. I need to brush up on my "Vulcan's Glory", but I think I will definitely be writing more about these characters. Thanks for the feedback@

Interesting. There are some continuity questions but I'm assuming that's because this is nuTrek, yes? I like the nods to TOS - you didn't clobber the reader over the head with them. Well done.

Author's Response: Yes, this is in keeping with the new Reboot!Canon. Number One doesn't appear in the movie at all, and this was my explanation. Thanks for the feedback!

That makes complete sense.  It's too bad their relationship is drawing to a close, but they're both ambitious and have career goals that don't jibe with each other's.  How soon things will change for Pike, and how brief a tenure he'll have aboard Enterprise.

Nicely done.

Author's Response: Thanks! Yes, they're both on the cusp of changes here. Pike will be learning (yet again) the lesson of how plans don't always work out the way we expect.

Nice story.

I like how you weaved in the old (pre-TOS) with the new. A relationship between Pike and Number One is very plausible and so are the ambitions she shows here which to her are clearly more important than her relationship with Pike.

Nicely done.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked the story. I wanted to explain why Number One was missing from the movie (aside from the obvious, that Spock and Kirk wouldn't have been able to step up if she'd been there). Is her career more important to her than her relationship? Yes, but it's not like she hadn't tried and ultimately failed in sustaining both.
