You've definitely captured the struggles Kira had to have gone through in order to come full circle and go back to her terrorist roots--and this time for the sake of the Cardassians.  I found myself really wishing that some of my characters could be there, that they could help comfort her...but I know they would be likely to get blown off because of the scales on their skin, at this point. :-(

BTW, I always thought the Bajoran uniform was pink.  I must be REALLY color-blind...

Author's Response: At this point in her saga, I think Kira's feelings towards Cardassians in general have softened just a bit; it's Damar (and his lieutenant) who really stick in her craw. (And by the time of his death, of course, she's feeling much more charitably inclined toward Damar himself). The symbolism of her switching uniforms was just too obvious to be ignored... BTW, it may just be your picture tube that's color-blind, not you!

I liked this. I always imagined it was a very difficult thing that Kira did, particularly in light of the fact that Damar killed Ziyal. I would have liked to see more focus on that in the show, but they were under a time crunch. I think you really captured Kira's voice here. Very well done.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked the story.

Deft and subtle. Conveys a lot of the irony of the situation. It was perhaps a bit too simplistic in the series and in mnay ways Kira was not that qualified to assist the leaders of a rebelllion. However, I liked that the powers that be decided to play it this way all the same.

In this story, I liked how Kira has a need to remind herself she is Bajoran. I believe in part not just because she is wearing Starfleet red, irony too considering her reluctance to work with Sisko/Starfleet in Emissary, but because she is going to help the Cardassians in a manner all too familar with the Bajoran suffering and treatment in the Occupation at Cardassain hands. So no wonder she has need to tell herself she is still Bajoran, and is not betraying who and what she is.

Author's Response: Due to the constraints of time on the TV series, I do think they kind of hurried through what it meant for Kira to be asked and to have to do this. This was my way of having her stop and take stock of the situation. Thanks for your thoughtful feedback!

nice reflective piece. I always thought Kira went along with Sisko's orders a little too easily. This underlines her doubts and hesitations...

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad I was able to get that across.

A very sober analysis of Kira's conflict over assisting the very people responsible for the occupation she had fought so hard to overthrow.  In many ways, her donning the Starfleet uniform and working to free the Cardassians from Dominion oppression brings her story full circle.

Succinct but potent, well done.

Author's Response: Thanks! I really liked the symbolism of the uniform.

Hey..I liked this. Great "fill in the gap" info from that episode. Though it was bitter sweet; it reminded me that its been, what, 10 years since DS9 ended?

I can still see the memories in my mind, so I could easily see Kira going through that routine just before leaving with Garak..good story!!!
