Oh my GAWD!! Well it looks like Archer has really gone and done it. Before in ENT it seemd that the diplomatic mistake that caused long lasting hostilities didn't quite amount to the big deal we thought it would be - but maybe this is the diplomatic incident and first contact business that caused the hostility to come. Dear oh dear. Kirk might have used cowboy diplomacy - but it seems Archer might just be a cowboy. ;)

Author's Response: Yup. This was the captain, after all, who on an earlier canon occasion allowed his dog to "water" a culture's sacred trees, and then be annoyed at *them* and not understand *their* annoyance! This was just too good to pass up. Glad you liked it.
