Aww, cool. I'm glad that Sisko got the chance to see his child. Really nice twist on "A Christmas Carol".

Now I got all the various different time frames and I dug that Sisko got this almost Christmas Carol type spin through Federation history. But I did wonder why he needed this 'It's A Wonderful Life' intervention. Anyway good that he got this opportunity to see what it is he is fighting for. Especially at the vortex of events as he was. An unusual response but it fitted all the same and of course, come Christmas time it might be a nice time to republish;)!

I definitely caught the overall tone, and as you might know from my stories...I am very old-fashioned: a believer that there ARE reasons to make sacrifices, even the ultimate sacrifice.  Family is certainly one of them (though I personally add God and country to the list as well), and that Sisko would be responsive to that particular point, given the loss of Jennifer and his love and protectiveness of Jake...that makes great sense.

The only thing I ran into a bit of trouble with was in catching all of the references.  I wasn't sure who George was.

I DID get the part about Lily Sloane, and on the second go-around, noticed the Vulcans offering their services to help her with the birth.  I'm not sure why, but I didn't catch that the first time around.

I also definitely get the reference to Amanda, Sarek, and Spock--as well as to Sisko's future child.

Just one question: does Sisko retain the knowledge, once he's taken back to the Defiant, that he won't be able to be there for his daughter's birth?  Is this how you think he got the knowledge to go after Dukat in the Fire Caves, through this vision?  Or was it something else?

Author's Response: I think this is what pushed him towards what happened in In the Pale Moonlight. Why he ended the episode with "I can live with that." As for George-go see Lone Red Shirt's response to the story on the BBS. :)

I have never seen DS9, and yet this story made perfect sense.  It's always better to understand first-hand what one is fighting for, or striving for, or working toward.  It makes us willing to sacrifice so much more.

BTW, loved George's Hawaiian duds.  Added an element of lightness to a story that could have been very dark.

Nice job!

Author's Response: Thank you. As a wearer of Hawaiian shirts, I firmly believe they should take the place of starched shirts and ties in the workplace.
