Nice character sketch. It works largely because while 3rd person omniscient, it sticks with McCoy's POV and stays out of Scotty's head. 

It's grounded as these supremely successful, famous people are surprisingly, generally miserable and the only one who seems happy and comfortable in his own skin is the one character famous for a veneer of unemotionality.

Author's Response: I generally more go third-limited, but sometimes third-omnescient sneaks in. LOL! There is a lot of story behind Scotty's general demeanor and the whys; I think for McCoy, a lot of what he's struggling with is how much he cares about these people who're suffering and how little he can help. Thank you!
