Not a lot progress being made at present and understandingly so with everybody beat. I bet I know who ain't beat though. BK2. These guys need to get in gear real quick if they want to avoid more victims.
Also, is it just me or are floral patterns super hot right now?
Author's Response:
Whenever they're worn by anyone but Mallory... I designed her character after the actor Miriam Margolyes (Professor Sprout). If you have ever seen interviews with her, she is totally nuts and unbelieveably naughty. Leaves me crying laughing every time.
And you are not wrong about the time pressure..
Thanks!! rbs

Very nice, warm paragraph here with a family counseling session which for once seems to be worth it's latinum.
Considering what this series is about so far, I'm pretty sure things won't remain this peaceful for long.
Author's Response:
And you would be right - pretty much every episode ends with some sort of chaos and bedlam (except Ep 28). This scene is similar to me showing a gun hanging on the wall at the beginning that will be used to shoot someone later...

Brutal description of death here.
But yeah, I expected something like this ever since it was clear the governor was MIA.
Whoever is crewing those Cardassian ships is. Or messing around.
Author's Response:
Brutal is what I was going for... Glad to know it connected!
I try to mix humor and horror. My favorite Trek movie is First Contact - going back and forth from a spooky borg hunt on the Enterprise to utter insanity with Zephram Cochran in Montana.

Okay, no idea who that Uhrg, Urrrg, Uhr .... lady is or why she is on board but damn ... is this about to turn into a romp in space story?
Author's Response:
Recruiting Mallory is Shran's idea. If you're hunting a powerful telepath, you'd better bring along a very powerful telepath...
A romp in space... Well, not quite. Or rather, not exacty in space - but that too becomes part of Shran's plan.

Doesn't sound the good governor is still in Starfleet custody. Orions, maybe? Whoever it is, it's not a good sign for Hunter and company.
Author's Response:
You are very much correct about it not being a good sign
Emory Ivonovic is a very complex man and he has the biggest story arc of any of my characters.

Julian Bashir as a Supreme Court judge? Yeah, I can see that.
But what's the deal with that demographics data, I wonder. Wouldn't be surprised if that comes up again.
Author's Response:
And Director of Section 31... Which is why he switched from medicine to law.
Oh yeah, demographics... in a big way...
Thanks again for reading and reviwing!! rbs

Okay, I'd pay money to see a foot race in zero-G. That sounds nuts.
The best part though was the enraged ensign. "No running in the hall!" She'd be great at my old high school.
Author's Response:
Glad you got a kick out of this scene! One of the things I'm writing for is to create really strong visuals. I would love to see Star Trek stories that take place on Earth shot on location. San Francisco is featured often, but never St. Petersburg, Dubuque, Nairobi, the Serengeti, Caracas, Chile or Hawaii. Most of those would be expensive shoots - but it would really be stunning.
I will probably rewrite either 5.2 or 11.3 (probably both) to provide some explanation of what Star Fleet Headquarters is doing sprawled along the Mississippi River in Dubuque.
Thanks!! rbs

If somebody were to ask me what this series is about I would of course say, Star Trek, vicious serial killers and ... surfing.
Boy, this crew must be seriously tanned.
A lot of technical talk here, but I'm enjoying this trip around the globe.
Author's Response:
I may have gotten a little too tech heavy in this scene. I was watching Numb3rs when I was coming up with this series and wanted to put a lot of math into the series - without actually spelling out the equations. There are a few chalkboard scenes.
I have never surfed - but I got a kick out of the idea of a Star Trek series with lots of surfing. Unfortunately, they won't get many more chances throughout the series.

Wakanda Forever!
Sorry, wrong franchise. But couldn't help be reminded of Black Panther's super modern and advanced African cities and culture.
I like the idea that Africa is the heart of the Federation although a bit more befuddled why Starfleet HQ has moved from the City by the Bay to seemingly the middle of Nowhere, USA.
Author's Response:
Africa will see explosive economic and population growth in this century - more than the rest of Earth combined. If all of us are fortunate, Nairobi, which is a gorgeous city, will be the model. The real question is, how to protect the wildlife when poachers have transporters..
Star Fleet Headquarters was originally built across the bay from the Academy. With all the wars, both the Academy and SF Headquarters needed more room. It makes sense that the Headquarters would move and the Academy would expand into the old HQ. Given available modes of transportation, HQ would go somewhere with a lot of room and low population so they could build from scratch with high security.
Again - thanks for reading and thanks for the questions! rbs

Interesting and complex exploration of Vulcan culture, their future as a race and procreation. Not sure if I'd prescribe to this theory but it certainly makes a great deal of sense, especially in the context of your story which is all about inter species relations.
Funny, when Starlight asked her dad about her funny name, I had the exact same thought on my mind. Nice explanation.
Author's Response:
Thanks for reading and for the kind words!
I am definitely departing from Trek conventions, but a population explosion of vulcan human hybrids makes sense given everything we know about both species... There is a reason an enormous number of vulcans have moved to Earth - which figures much later in the story.
There is also a history for the Dolphin family name - which Dolphin explains to Ivonovic in a later episode.
Thanks!! rbs
