The description of the castle and its environs rung bells in my head, and when I got to the condition of the natives it clicked, "Sleeping Beauty". Right then I knew Kirk was gonna kiss her. Saw it coming a mile away.
But what a heck of a twist at the end, though. Now that was a trip.

A fun, scarey read. I liked Kirk's uncharacteristic fear and vulnerability, the slow-paced build up of atmosphere that is broken by the awakening, like someone jumping out of the dark at you.
