It's got to be difficult for T'Beth, as Spock is beyond your standard emotionally distant father. For Spock, the expression of emotion is so fraught with meaning that he still seems to be incapable of just letting go and doing so. Well done and thought-provoking.

Yes, T'Beth's childhood was indeed turbulent, and one of the reasons was Spock's emotional distance. Thankfully, things improved between them once she reached her 20's and came to appreciate his finer qualities.
