Author's Response: Thanks! I've been drawn to the wit and incredible intellect of Adlai Stevenson for a while now. And I knew also that Chang's famous line to Kirk in The Undiscovered Country was inspired by Stevenson's line to the Soviet Ambassador to the U.N. ("Don't wait for the translation -- yes or no?") during the Cuban Missile Crisis. So when I happened to hear Sufjan Stevens's song about Adlai's moment of triumph, I knew I had to make some sort of a Trek response to it. Hence this little FILK.
