This story reminded me a lot of the second half of Full Metal Jacket. War is hell. I think combat photographers are underrated as a whole. Well done!

I loved this story of a medic turning into a combat photographer, especially since I have a grandson who is about to pursue his dream of being an Army medic. Good writing!

Top Story TS, wonderful use of language to bring those photographs to life and show the real agony of life on the front-line.

Really liked this story. Many Trek stories can easily be applied to contemporary settings but this one almost felt like a contemporary setting turned into a Trek tale.
And I don't buy that photographs will fade away in the future and give way completely to moving recordings and holo projections. There is a poetic beauty and lasting grace to a photograph, taken just the right way, that a moving picture could never do justice. And this story demonstrates exactly why that is.
Well done.

Oh, this is so lovely!
I really love the names you've got going on here - Gilgamesh (the original flood myth), Stormcrow (evokes what Theoden calls Gandalf while Theoden is possessed by evil), and Hudson (just a basic, almost everyman sort of name).
I had to read back before I realized this is jessiy's father. I really like this backstory for him.
