Well Done Jespah after the bleakness of the early chapters you found a way to give back hope and inspiration to Lili family unit and show the littlest of things can have the biggest of impacts.

The old proverb you don’t know what you’ve got till you lose it seem to echo in that funeral thoughts from the various people.

Well done on completing that sad short story. The pain of their lose felt real but so to do the family unit inner strength at the end.

Author's Response:

Thank you. All I want is for them to feel real. I'm glad they did, even in their bleakest hour.

Ouch that was tough and not easy going but then a sad tale always will be.

Not sure what to say other than well done again for having the courage to write that and not pull the punches to much. In the darkest hour we saw the best of Doug and Melissa.

a nice ending line for a hard chapter.

Author's Response:

Thank you. It's a hard story to write, but I had wanted a direct refutation of the Mirror's 5 Signs of Weakness. For someone as helpless as Kevin, it means a lot for Doug to not only accept him, but advocate for him. For Doug to give his name (which doesn't happen with his other two sons with Melissa), and declare to the universe, "This is my child!" is powerful to him.

Well that was an interesting reflective chapter, I feel it was brave to see how the children view the shocking news and there mixed reactions to the unknown. Was a good story from Joss to help them to try and understand the situation.

Author's Response:

I kind of seized on him as a pre-vet to get an idea of, we do this for animals and so the logical question is, why don't we do it for people? Should we? There's nothing easy about a situation such as this.

Thank you for reading; I know this one's not easy.

Well that was a difficult subject and not a easy read but you handle it all with tact and clearly serious thought.
As always your character reaction were believable and the hard questions weren't shy aware nor were they bluntly delivered. Not a happy read but a well executed first chapter.

Author's Response:

Thank you - I figure this is up there when it comes to parents' worst nightmares.

Well, that was sad on so very many levels.  Extremely well-written, but sad.

Author's Response:

Thank you - there are 3 more chapters. It's ... yeah, what is any parent's worst nightmare?
