This is my first look at funn's universe, but it sure was a treat.  Thank goodness Jennie from the block was there to stress to Seth the importance of following his dreams, and vice versa.

Loved the nod to O'Connors - engineers in a multitude of universes.

Author's Response:

Thank you - and it's another language study. I suppose I had speech on the brain. funn's universe can seem dark but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it's not quite so dark. Excuse me, dahk.

Wonderful little story and look into the universe funn created. You did a good job with keeping the accents. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Author's Response:

I thank you for reading.

Another great story and a nice view on why Jennie from the block matter so much to Seth.

Nice work on the accent in the text.

Author's Response:

Many thanks; I know what a tough accent that can be to understand.

Ok, I will admit that the accent stuff is a little overpoweing - however - like good shakespeare, you get in on it as you go along. And I have to say, I marvel at your ability jespah to write dialgoue which is accented but keeping it natural and genuine. Asides from the accents, it has to be said this is an intriguing glimpse into Funn's little universe. You keep the focus Earth-bound and look at it warts and all, as it is in this timeframe and universe setting. Seth and Jenni's tour about gives a lot of revealling windows into the life and background framing young Seth and many of the other cadets surely face something similar. Jenni is refreshing and the little reveals along the way about her and the banter between her and Seth was terrific. It was like a mini relationship vehicle only for Jenni to reveal her own likings. All in all, serving up a real surprising and gem of a story. Additionally, there are some neat call outs here to the future - the Xindi attack which your own work and Funn's work richly explore and expand to show the true cost of it. As well as a shout out to a future Torres(?) and your Kevin O'Connor (or kes7's Maren) (or both). Terrific.

Author's Response:

Aw, thank you.

The Southie accent can be a difficult one. If we do a Skype call this summer, I'll gladly read this aloud, accent and all.

Definitely shouts out to the O'Connors, to Torres, and to Multiverse II (with the reference to being on the candy).

They were a lot of fun to write.

I loved this.  Seth is one of my favorite characters from Funn's 'verse.  And I gan't help but grin at Jennie's last name.  It seems we've decided O'Connors = engineers.

That last bit was a punch in the stomach, though.  RIP, Jennie from the block.

Author's Response:

Oh, thank you. And, of course - O'Connor, O'Connor, O'Connor - they're all related, I figure.

I love Seth, too. I was so happy to have a more or less blank slate to draw on.
